Speaking of, lets not forget that aside from a shootout and the golden goal, Crosby was a no-show in Vancouver, too. Doesn't have Kunitz to blame today, he was put with guys he's also familiar with.

Wow. In the post game interview Selänne was asked what he talked about with Crosby after the penalty. He said he just pointed out to the referee that if it was somebody else instead of Crosby there would've been no call, and that it irritates him that referees fall to Crosby's act. Or something like that.

Tuesday will have a few pretty fun games.

Switz/Latvia = Latvia has been very feisty and Switz are always a threatening dark horse.

Czech Rep./Slovakia = battle of Czechoslovakia

Austria/Slovenia = two surprise qualifiers get the chance to make it to quarterfinals.

Can't believe they don't re-seed in a tournament like this. The 1st and 2nd seed can only meet in the semis? Doesn't make sense.

I think the bracket NBCSN was using is wrong. Semis at best could only be 1 v 4, 2 v 3.

My lines would be:

Duchene-Getzlaf-Perry
Marleau-Toews-Carter
Benn-Tavares-Bergeron
Nash/Sharp-Crosby-St. Louis
Nash/Sharp

Kunitz scratched... he looks awful at this level. Should have taken Hartnell! Everyone plays well with Hartnell, time and time again... he may not be as skillfull as most guys... but he *knows* how to play with elite players!

Those top 3 lines looked pretty good when they were together. They should not separate them for Crosby.

Yes; he is the best player in the world, but the 3 centres on the lines 'above' him are fantastic as well, and they are playing better than him.

It wasn't just the brackets though. They flat out said there can't be a NA re-match for gold this year.

There can't be. But Sweden is the #1 seed, USA is #2 and Canada is #3.

But yea if Sweden loses in QF there still couldn't be.

Heck, it could even be Norway v. Slovenia in one semi with USA and Canada in the other.

That makes more sense. Still think they should re-seed for quarters.

Why the hell are Kunitz and Hamhuis in over Subban and MSL?

I like Hamhuis... but I don't think he should have been picked either.

Still cannot believe with all the 'chemistry' pairings being picked Seabrook did not go:

A: He is better than Hamhuis.

B: Him and Keith are possibly the best pairing in the NHL.

16 games played so far, only 5 has the losing team scored twice. 2 of them are Latvia.

No thanks to big ice in the NHL.

By scratching Kunitz, you're basically saying you ****ed up. The ******** excuse that he doesn't need to play with Crosby to be an effective player, how's that working out?

I don't know why these teams don't go with 8 d-men anyway. How much ice time is your 13th forward going to get? Blake Wheeler played 38 seconds yesterday. It would be nice to be able to pick a Subban off your bench when you are chasing a goal late in the game. Finland has been rotating 4 pairs the whole tournament and it has worked out pretty well for them so far. And they aren't nearly as deep as Canada obviously.

Kunitz is god awful. I'm not saying that because I'm a flyers fan but wit or without Crosby he sucks.

Nash---Crosby---Carter
Tavares---Toews---Sharp
Duchene---Getzlaf---Perry
Benn---Bergeron---Marleau

Keith---Weber
J-Bo---Pietrangelo
Doughty---Subban

Price
Luongo

Rumours are that Subban and Kunitz will be sitting in the Quarters

How exactly is the big ice responsible for this exactly?

Don't you think it has more to do with the massive disparity in talent between elite hockey countries and the bottom hockey countries?

Coburn is a better player than Hamhuis.

Seabrook could not go because with Weber and Doughty on the team, he was not going to play with Keith even if they thought he could beat out Pietrangelo.

Didn't see the game but the radio show after spent a lot of time saying that the problem finding wingers for Crosby is that he thinks the game at such an elite player, no one can keep up with his brilliance. ROTFLMAO. If he's so smart he could figure it out, esp. with his buddy on the team. He dives for PP opps, and chokes in the playoffs, how many years in row is it????

I really dont like that they dont reseed. The US finished ahead of Canada yet is guaranteed a tougher opponent in the quarterfinals. If for some reason Norway or Latvia pull off an upset, Canada and Finland basically get treated like the top seed.
