Henrique really didn't do much besides those 2 series clincher's. I would've put Zajac or Parise ahead of him.

They all had about the same number of points and Henrique's OT goals were huge.
Zajac had a big one too, Parise was good vs Rags I thought.

Ugh, watching Kovy in that shootout hurt my soul. I'd be lying through my teeth if I said I didn't miss him, especially with how anemic we are offensively right now. Even if he doesn't quite have the speed he used to, he still would be head and shoulders better than anyone on our roster since Jagr wouldn't be here. That release he has is still so damn filthy.

I still don't buy the whole back problem issue. There's been no evidence to support that from what I've heard.

Just watched the USA/Russia game.

Quick is awesome!

Pavelski <3

Zach has been about as invisible these two games as he was in the SCF

Kovalchuk visibly does not look like the player he was in the past. I think he's slowly declining (though he'd still be a good player for us), I'm not convinced that he'd have too many more points than Jagr right now in the NHL, but he probably wouldn't have been absolutely pathetic in the shootout like the rest of them. We may have scored a couple more shootout goals with him, possibly even won some. First one that went 6 rounds against the Islanders comes to mind.

Watching today's game...I only got mad about Kovy defecting......seeing Parise- well he played exactly like Ryan Callahan, and he got rag dolled plenty of times and just looked out of place on the big ice.

He's been as invisible as he was in the SCF. Pretty much a non factor. Quick is on his team now, so he can't give him a freebie this time to get him on the board. We are going to need some production out of him in order to be a serious medal contender.

i've seen him do absolutely nothing in these first 2 games. not even throw a hit or anything. that's no way to "step up"

I haven't read that anywhere

Jagr said during the off-season that he would sign with a team that gave him top ice time, which he's been getting with us, no reason why he and Kovy couldn't coexist

doesn't matter in the end though, **** you Kovy

Geez...I'm sure Patty is wondering just what the hell is the point anymore if he's going to be sick every time he goes overseas or is in some big-time event like the Olympics?

I havent watched all these games but it seems the big 4 have had their struggles. Canada vs Norway, Sweden vs Switzerland, Russia vs Slovenia, USA vs Russia. Not to take anything away from their opponents of course.

Finland vs Canada should be interesting to see how Canada does against a better opponent. Canada will probably win by a decent margin. If so they may not play one of the bigger squads to elimination.

After today I defeintly see USA/Russia getting advantages playing through a tough game but I think Russia pulls on top. They lost but they should of won and its only a matter of time before their snipers find the back of the net. The US got very lucky. Ovechkin/Kovalchuk are going to make teams pay on the powerplay.

One of these is not like the other.

Yes the USA didnt play great in the game but to compare Norway, Switzerland, or Slovenia to Russia is crazy. Which is the opponent you reference for the USA. USA vs Russia should have been a good game and it was.

Just want to remind you that Conte and Lou drafted Bergfors over Oshie in the 2005 draft. They passed over James Neal too, but the Blues wisely ran to the podium to draft Oshie after the Devils foolishly chose Bergfors.

I would put Miller over Cory. Miller has insane numbers for playing on Buffalo.

1985? They also passed up Letang, Quick and Yandle in that draft.

They traded Bergfors for Kovalchuk good asset management.

Anyway, hindsight is 20/20. You can go through every team's draft history and there would be multiple guys you think they should have got.

lol this constant rehashing of who we passed up in every draft gets old...every freaking team passes up similar players every year if you scrutinze their records with half the microscope that ours gets scrutinzed with. The draft's an inexact science. I won't go down the FMASC road of everything being completely random but it's certainly an inexact science.
