Ryan Smyth > Wayne Gretzky, and Oilers 3 > 2 Islanders

Discuss.

Sam Gagner made two great plays tonight: one to win the pick and drop it to Eberle for the first goal that cemented Smyth as better than Gretzky, the other to win the game.

Confidence.

Phew! It was off Hall. We can all go back to bashing Gagner.

That looks like Hall's goal. Nonetheless, we win. Yay! That end game celly by the team though, rofl.

Poor Gagner. That goal will definitely go to Hall, since it bounced off his stick.

Sam looked so excited to snap his 14 game goalless drought.

I'd still rather see Hall score though.

I'm gonna focus on some of the positives from tonight.

- I thought the effort level was quite good throughout the game tonight and carried them to victory, on the same note I think the execution was bad all night, in addition, once again, Scrivens was very good.

- Excellent pinch by Larsen, I think on a team with good D, as a #6/7 guy he could have some use, the Oilers are not that team right now.

- Mark Fraser was surprisingly effective tonight, and what do you know he plays better when he's physically engaged, if he plays like this more often he would be a nice 6/7 guy going forward.

- It seems as though the coaching staff has given Marty Marincin he green light offensively, which I think is good as long as it doesn't compromise his excellent defensive game we've seen of late.

- I've noticed as of late the Oilers are standing up for each other, very nice to see.

Man we need better D and we would (obviously) not give up as much but also we would break out so much better and then more stuff like this could happen.

Must lose game and we win. Watch us be out of the top 3 and draft another winger...

I know it's still early, but I hereby declare Scrivens to be legit. Love the energy he brings on top of his solid play.

Also glad to see how quick Yak was to jump in to defend Perron in that little "scrum" in front of the net near the end, nothing came of it but it's still a bonus.

Love it. As the saying goes - "Do you know who think losing is acceptable? Losers"

Sweet goal by Hall :-p
