Darin Olver as a #1 center? Lundmark as a checking center? Man I hope none of that happens, or this organization is in DEEP trouble. What I hope is that the management is able to identify the core - either Lundquist or Montoya in goal, a couple of d-men like Tyutin and Staal, maybe a Sauer and/or Baranka, plus a surprise like a Potter, Guenin or Taylor, forwards like Jessiman and Korpikoski, and one of the like Graham, Olver, Immonen or say Dupont if he develops, and a couple of pluggers like a Giroux, or a Murray, Hollweg or Dubinsky. Hopefuly the depth accumulated does not mean that the roster is filled out with every player drafted by the Ranger. The doesn't happen. What I hope happens is that the talent develops so that assets are available for trades. For example, there was a rumor about the Rangers talking to the Sens about Havlat, who will be UFA next year. the Rangers supposedly offered Balej and Prucha. (The Sens supposedly killed the deal by asking for Jessiman.) However, I'd make that deal in a heartbeat. And, its a deal that works for both teams. The Sens have to worry about signing Chara and Hossa, and would get back two prospects who have the chance to someday replace Havlat. The Rangers get a player who is still young who might be ready to take his game to the next level. If this team has Graham, Olver and Immonen down the middle, it will be in serious trouble, since all three players are basically second line centers at best.
Depening on what they sign for, i think its possible the Rangers can sign a Thornton, Chara, and St.Louis/Lecavliar or Thornton, St.Louis, Lecavliar. But this all depending on what they ask for.
Hopefully if the Rangers are somehow in a playoff spot they make a move for one of St.Louis, Lecavliar, or Thornton. I think with the way Tampa lost The Bulin wall they wont be as good. Just a gut feeling.
