I agree with the PITA part. But honestly I'd rather learn a new system on my own time than try to do it & my routine work at the office- too many interruptions there.

Yeah that is certainly the other option, mortgage rates are pretty damn low right now, but there's just something about getting out of debt quicker that feels good.

You got that right brutha. Paid mine off in 14 years even though I had some CC debt at a higher rate but smaller amount which is now paid also. Funneling my new found money into the market,IRAs and 529 funds. And retired at 54!! Maybe.

Can someone make a movie about Jackie Robinson that is good? Like, just remake 42 right now without this absurd soundtrack and Disney cinematography?

Sketchy for those who park their vehicles in not-so-great neighborhoods:

"CBS Chicago is reporting that the mysterious device known
only as the “Black Box” is now being used in Chicago where footage shows
thieves pointing this small box-like device at locked cars and like
magic, they open."

Video report: http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=64b_1393603608

I guess the box sends out every unlock signal at once or something?

If I can be bold, I'd suggest something other than a 529, unless you'll be able to save a very large part of your expected college expenses, or if you expect to be making so much (or have saved so much) that you won't be getting ANY financial aid. Because of the way 529s are set up, with the child being the beneficiary, it's treated as an asset of the child, which is counted much more toward the Expected Family Contribution.

The tax savings are great, but they don't do you much good if using the 529 means you're reducing the amount of financial aid you're eligible for.

Here's one article that gives a brief description. Here's another one. There's a link in that second article to a planning tool I wish I'd had 20 years ago.
