Orpik was fine, you'd think he was getting beat for goals all tournament the way people talk about him. Yea, McD had a solid Olympics, so did a ton of other players on the team.

And I love hearing how Yandle was the answer, as if he hasn't been a defensive liability this season.

It's just funny that people are willing to throw that game away because McDonagh might get hurt playing in a "meaningless game". And for what? For our team that's at best 3rd best in their own conference? Gee I thought things that were 3rd best didn't matter at all...
The east is wide open. And i know you won't agree because you're so pessimistic, which is understandable as a Rangers fan, but I still think we have a chance to go deep in the playoffs. Especially with the way this team has been playing.

they have a lot of issues, but outside of Boston and Pitt, there is no team that is much better then the Rangers. And if we avoid them until the ECF (by hopefully finishing third)...then we stand a chance.

So yes, I'd prefer McD to get some rest and come home healthy, same with Callahan, because I know even for third best, they will play as hard as they always do.

Hard to even call that a mistake. It was more bad luck. He got his stick on the puck to clear it, and his own teammate deflected it back into the net. I wouldn't even call it a mistake on Suter's part either, but he was more the reason for the OG than McDonagh.

By tomorrow morning's puck drop, I'll remember that I didn't think the US would have a shot at a medal in this tournament before it started. That if you told me two weeks ago, the US would be playing for the Bronze I'd have taken it.

Until then... Losing to Canada always brings out the worst in me. And especially losing in that type of fashion. Just stymied by Canada, with no one taking the reigns as a potential game breaker for the US outside of Quick.

My heart is broken.

If there was any year to have a shot at taking out Canada, it was this year.

Best of luck to the unsigned college players, and US players playing professionally in Europe in 2018. Perhaps you'll find a way to make us all believe in miracles, again.

Why are you quoting my post. I agree with that. And didn't say anything relative to it.

Yea, Kane sucks and doesn't play well in big games like the Stanley Cup finals. His line wasn't good or anything today...

I couldn't help but picture Kane getting turned down by woman after woman in the olympic village, bc he's a drunken little boy, every time I saw him shaking his head after he tried to do something and nothing happened. The NHL wants to market Kane so badly yet, he is just not that guy.

You said it yourself, "outside of Boston or Pitt". That's the reality. We'll probably go as far as that. As far as avoiding them, it's bracketed by division, so the only way we avoid Pittsburgh is if they're out in the first round.

Sure I like this Rangers team and I'd like a chance in the playoffs, but look at the odds here:

"The bronze medal is pointless because of the very small chance one of our players will get hurt, which will ruin the even smaller chance that we pull a miracle in the playoffs." It just doesn't make any logical sense.

Orpik was not nearly as terrible as I anticipated him being, but I'd say he was at fault on Benn's goal. He should have lifted his stick or something instead of just standing there.

Kane has a tendency to no-show. Without a doubt. He's crazy talented, crazy good, but it speaks to a mental thing that prevents him from being the best. I don't see how his performance in these olympics do anything other then highlight that.

Yea, i mean, I don't care about Bronze. I thought that was clear.

3rd, 4th, it's all semantics. I don't even care about 2nd place in the finals, although it's nice to be there and experience the games. Winning is all that matters.

It's just a difference of opinion. I'm not trying to convince you and you don't have to try to convince me. I played sports my whole life (on a much lower level, obviously) and coming in second really meant nothing to me. Maybe my coaches and parents instilled in me at a young age that second really was invaluable and maybe that's not a great thing, but it's how i'm wired.

Gotcha, yea, that wasn't clear, I was just confused. Quick was lights out. I wanted Miller, but he made me eat Crow. Fantastic in every game.

Why is the Bronze meaningless? Just because it isn't Gold doesn't mean it's a throwaway game. What a stupid line of thought. Nobody wants to be the team/person that finishes 4th in the Olympics.

Speaking of Benn, how good is he. I remember how good he's looked against the rangers this year. I remember thinking, now thats what I thought Nash would be. I know he's not one of the good ole boys on team canada. But he surely proved that he belongs.

This. Phil the Thrill can't win it by himself.

He wasn't disappointing, he was clearly the best puck handler on the team today and made some nice moves where space was practically none-existent. He made some nice plays around and behind the net as well.

I don't get it. Didn't Crosby win a gold medal yesterday already?
