Lars Eller to NJD

We may not have all the pieces at the moment, but with the deadline coming up we might be able to shop around for more attractive trade pieces.

Nowhere in the OP was there the word defense-man or a player who is one

A top prospect + a high pick.

i.e. We're not looking to move Eller, so that's a take it or leave it kind of deal.

I would love to get Lars Eller, I doubt Montreal would want any of out players. Maybe Eric Gelinas and a pick for Lars Eller.

Could work, depending on how high the pick is.

I think you'll find a lot of MTL fans saying no if the pick isn't in the high 1st/impressive zone.

Most Devils fans will already say no due to Gelinas's immense offensive potential at the NHL level. It all depends where you see Eller and if you believe his spike last year was only due to Gallagher and Galchenyuk.

3rd this year and a 1st next year. Devils likely decline

Could something based around Eller for Larsson work ? Important pieces being added on MTL part. Would that be an okay basis ?

Probably zero chance what so ever. In 2 years at the tender age of 23, it wouldn't surprise me if Larsson is playing 24 minutes a night putting up 30 points.

It depends mainly on whether Montreal has the luxury to deal him and I don't believe they do. So it'll take an overpayment to get him imho. If it's not Gelinas it'll have to be Matteau or some other top prospect and you still have to expect many hab fans saying no.

I thought I would give it a try. Larsson seemed to be on the outs in NJ. Probably just growing pains like with TBL and Hedman.

Eller is a 3C with 2C upside that hes not showing offensively this year. LOL @ the "1st + Great Prospect"

Agreed, centers who are already very good defensively with 50 point upside are very tough to find. His value is infinite times more than someone like Gagner IMO.

If all it took was Matteau and a pick NJD would be all over it. Eller immediately moves into the new core they should be building.

Devils have Zajac, Henrique and Zubrus through 15-16, I don't really see a need for a center or why they would give up any draft picks / prospects

I wouldn't do that as a Habs fan. Gelinas is a much more enticing piece and the Habs need a D like him. He's a much better option then what they have playing like Bouillon or Murray. Plus, he's young.

I love Eller and be more then happy keeping him though, so I'd ask for more then only Gelinas, although their value is similar.

I would think very very hard about moving Gelinas for Eller if Montreal was interested

Eller is overrated.

He can do alright on a scoring line for a short while if you're struck by injuries, but he's not a legit top-six forward and I doubt he'll ever be.

He's a legit defensive third line center with size, and he's also our most physical player.

Play a 2 forwards, 3 defensemen line with Subban/Markov/Gelinas. That would be lethal as ridiculous as it is.
