Hmm, makes you wonder if the bizarro world was really earlier in the year when both players looked like elephant dung at times....

Also makes you wonder if we're really just imagining all of this world we see and feel as reality and don't really exist anyway.

I hate our PP. Those odd man rushes are unacceptable.

Weak in that there isn't much in terms of top end talent.

This team isn't a contender but they can be in a few years if they're managed correctly. They need to focus on the future. Now I'm not suggesting they trade Kimmo or something but Mez for a 2nd, absolutely.

Yeah, we're not a good enough team to be wasting chances at excellent value for players that don't really have a future here (or shouldn't at least).

We're a good team I think, but we're not elite or a contender. Every season for a while now a bottom seed goes on a run and in LA's case even wins it all, but that's not something to bank on really.

Like you said, 2nd rounders and even beyond have value despite how people belittle their values. Drafts in general are a crap-shoot anyhow after the first ten to twenty picks so nobody can really say that a 2nd isn't worth anything.

I'd rather have the defensive depth than the second rounder. Gus or Mez as the 7th defenseman is better than Gill being that guy.

That Meszaros goal is nicer then I thought. A tiny bit behind the legs there.

That's fine, but I wouldn't.

I'm looking beyond the next three or so months.

I'd do the trade in a heartbeat as well, but in the past, the Flyers haven't had a lot of luck in the 2nd round historically. Partially this is because the seem to never have a pick in the 2nd round, but historically there are really only a handful of guys drafted by the Flyers in the 2nd round over the last 25 years or so that have had legitimate NHL careers. And most of them are from the earlier part of that time frame.

Hopefully guys like Hagg and Stolarz are able to change that type of trend.

The depth isn't the greatest compared to recent years but there's still some quality prospects to possibly be had in the second round. There's some pretty good goaltenders & in my opinion I would like to draft another one with a second rounder this year. If we add another second rounder we could land a goalie & two other positional players in the first two rounds to build some depth at all the positions in our prospect pool.

Yep, I love how he's filled out his body and is starting to use it effectively on the boards. Give him a few more years and he could be a really special player.

The past 10+ years is what really counts, as most the people in charge of drafting/scouting going back 25 yrs aren't with the team anymore, and they haven't had many 2nd rounders in that span as you said. Also, the past two 2nd rounders are very promising, which you also said.
