Wednesday, Oct.1 - Grand Forks

Might as well have a game thread.

Sounds like Roloson starts for MN, Osgood for STL.

I read that the Blues brought Jeff Panzer with 'em. Nice to let the hometown kid skate.

Daigle, Laakso, and Zholtok get the start for the Wild.

Muckalt, Park, and someone on another line.

Veilleux, Johnson, and Dowd on another line.

Wild PP coming up at 4:37.. Dmitri(sp?) for hooking.

Coupla good chances on the PP or just after, but Osgood was good.

'Nother pp coming up for Wild... slashing.

Nothing much on that PP. Sounds like the Blues are nearly set with their reg. season roster.

Doesn't sound like it. I'm not too unhappy about that.. The Blues might be a little tough for a first game for him. (oo.. sounds like Park got _leveled_..even the crowd went "ooooo")

6:53 remaining.. scoreless.

Oops.. corrected.. Blues score, right off face-off in our zone. Raycroft (sp?)

Thompson said they're going to try and get Burns in for the Montreal game.

Johnson and Jackman tangle.. .. I guess Johnson and Drake started tangling, then Jackman jumped Johnson.. then a ref jumped on 'em.

good to hear about Burns.

Turns into a STL powerplay.. 2 min to Jackman, 4 to Johnson.. commentators didn't seem to think that was the right thing to do.

Turns into a MIN pp, high stick penalty on STL, extra 2 to Johnson is over.

End of 1, 1-0 Blues. Sounds like a decent game.. better pace than last night.

Be nice if NHL.com would get their scoresheet running.

Mellanby scores for the Blues after a bit of nice pressure from the Wild...

2-0.

Streaming at the Blues' site, I guess, so unless something really unbelievable happens, I'm going to go work on some other stuff while the game's on.

2-0 final. Sounds like the Blues played a pretty good game tonight. Not sure any of our guys really stood out. At the end it was all Blues.

Uh oh, that's what, three shutouts already this preseason?

If I'm DR: "Um, hello, Mr. Walsh?"

Also noted in Strib this morning that Gaborik sat out Trncin's last game to "nurse his surgically repaired shoulder." That doesn't sound real good either.

I think it will be more like taking a hard look at Burns and giving Daigle a chance on top lines, I am not sure shutouts, even three in 8 games (exhibition) are going to cause DR to panic and change his strategy, whatever that might be. On the other hand, who knows, maybe he is on the phone right now.

Unfortunately, I think you're right - there's no panic about Riseborough. If I were the GM, however ...

There were talks slated for Montreal, where Walsh will be going to try and meet - it's about bloody time.

As I recall, we have had our fair share of shutouts even with Gabby and Dupuis around.

I'd be more worried if we have 40% shutouts in the regular season.

Maybe Marion's surgeries over the last few years have Doug Wondering about longevity.

It was a pre-season game, and about 1/3 of the Wild roster wasn't playing. Don't get worked up!

It was cool that Quenville played a hometown stud (Panzer), who should have had a look at the NHL roster. He's better than 5 of the Blues already on the team!

It was disappointing that another college favorite (Travis Roche) wasn't here to play.

Murray Baron (a guy I had classes with in college) is back with St. Louis. That's cool.

St. Louis is in for another "make the playoffs, lose immediately" season".
