Yeah maybe Allison and Lindros will collide and take each other out!

On Mogilny, maybe he can take Denis Shvidki or Vladimir Sapozhnikov or Denis Yachmenev under his wing! We have lots of Russians in our system that could use the help!

Yeah, but at 1/3 the cost to the cap space that Newy and Roberts went for (3 mil for one year vs. 9 mil for 2 years). High risk/high reward.

And did you miss the part of my thread were I said I would have liked to see Roberts resign with TO?

Roberts got 2.25 a year

Sure 1/3 of the cost.. But you aint gonna see them play more than max 1/3 of the games

Question For Mogo

My Finnish Friend, how could you wish Keenan burn in hell if he brings your idol to the Panthers?

Eh, with the situation regarding Luongo, Mogo may have the right to be mad.

Okay, let me clue you in.

Roberts - 2.25 mil/yr x 2 years = 4.5 mil
Nieuwendyk - 2.25 mil/yr x 2 years = 4.5 mil

Total for Newy and Roberts = 4.5 mil + 4.5 mil = 9 mil

Allison - 1.5 mil/yr x 1 year = 1.5 mil
Lindros - 1.5 mil/yr x 1 year = 1.5 mil

Total for Allison and Lindros = 3 mil (which by my math is 1/3 of 9 mil)

In reference to how many games Allison and Lindros will play this season, don't expect Nieuwendyk or Roberts to play more than 50-55 games each this year.

Um... You can't compare money over two years with money over one... If anything, you need to compare the 4.5mil to the 3mil because then you're speaking on a 1:1 basis...

I am pretty sure with Lindros' cranial problems, we still did ok, even if we all acknowledge that we overpaid those two a bit...

If it's the cap space you're referring to, a yearly comparison is what you need.

4.5 mil. vs. 3 mil. If TO's new additions have a one year contract, then it's only fair to compare a single year. The next 4.5 won't count until next season.

Sidebar: If the CBA mess had not happened, you guys would still be paying these two 3 and 3.5 mil. respectively. Along with whatever UFAs you could bring over. This all happened to stop that exact thing from happening. Just relax, let's see how it all plays out.

I'll bet you a case of beer that Roberts/Nieuwendyk play more games this year than Allison/Lindros.

Well, you'll have to wait at least two years, if ever to roast him. Luongo isn't going anywhere until then so really no need to get in an uproar about it now.

He could demand all he wants, the Panthers don't have to trade him. They hold all the cards for the next two years but after that, if he wants, Luongo can put the screws to them so settle down.

If Panthers hold all the cards why they just don't offer him minimum or same salary what he just was getting?

Because they have to go to arbritration with him. They have to make the case they offered him a contract that is what the market is for him. Luongo will argue he's worth what the Bulin Wall got and the Cats will argue all the high paid goalies are either Stanley Cup Winners or veteran playoff performers which Luongo is neither. The Arbritrator will likely award a contract nearer to what the Panthers offered than what Luongo wants.

PP< what you're missin out on is, the Panthers may only hold the card for one season. They are only allowed to take Luongo to arbitration once. ONCE. So if he gets a one year contract out of arbitration, then he can hold out all he wants next year.
