who else would get them 'chanting Marty in a good way'

I can think of any gritty unlikeable players named Martin

unless its Brodeur himself

@NNicastro_4 sorry Nick, my sense is that majority of NYR fans wouldn't be happy initially.

They would celebrate if they got St.Louis

For what it's worth Bob Mac said he's heard nothing, but Boomer ******* has been right on a few trades this season.

Yea, all signs are pointing to him being reunited with Richards for a playoff run. I have no ****ing idea what Tampa is thinking in doing that. I mean, unless St. Louis went around and trashed Yzerman's office or something after the final selections for Olympics came out and then requested to get dealt.

And yea, Boomer called the Klein trade before it happened. His radio show might suck ass but he does have connections so I guess you have to take him seriously.

Well, I would think there is a good portion of the Ranger fan base that doesn't want Callahan traded at all, because they love the guy, so anybody they move him for would **** people off, at first.

It sounded like he was initially referring to guys like Simmonds, Hartnell, Marchand, Ott in those tweets but the more you think about it, the more all signs point to St. Louis.

depends how you value St Louis. still a very good player but you are moving your captain for a guy who will be 39 in a couple months

anyway I guess this should be in around the league thread lol

again, unless its Brodeur

As odd as it would be (and having St. Louis there would be even more annoying than Drury going there), kind of makes some sense since Tampa needs grit and the Rangers need an actual front-line scorer.

Where are the cues that say St. Louis? I must have missed them because I don't get that impression thus far.

The Rangers would HAVE to throw in something else for him besides Callahan. Like a Zuccarello or a Girardi.

nooooo way. St Louis has like 2-3 years hockey left in him at best. good hockey, but 2-3 all the same. Cally for St Louis is pretty close to fair value imo, add in the conditional pick if Cally resigns and you have a deal that sounds alot like what Boomer has been dropping

I think it could be legit

Think I agree with TR. Rangers would be getting the better player, while TB get's a UFA(one more year for St Louis on his current deal). Think more would have to go TB's way.

Question for Devils fans....Has there been any talk of the Devils trading Brodeur? What do you think it would take to get a deal done?

The thought has been thrown around. But no rumors.

Tricky situation on return due to his emotional value to NJ. Otherwise I'd say a 3rd rndr would suffice. But can NJ trade Marty for a 3rd rnd pick? No it can not. Thus unless Marty is making a stink, I don't think it happens.

Is that even related? He was talking about Lundqvist a lot earlier too.

Callahan is a UFA and is probably Buffalo bound, why would TB make themselves worse off this year and moving forward with this deal? Rags would have to offer more with it.

I'm not sure. I don't really want him traded, I want him to finish his career here like I should. Though at the same time, I don't want him playing much at all down the stretch until we're pretty much eliminated.

Value wise, not much

but its been cat and mouse. Marty says he wants more playing time, but wont ask for a trade. Lou said he wont trade Marty unless he asks. so... who honestly knows.

He was eligible to play once the Devils began practice.

Cally is a free agent, St Louis is not. The Rangers would get him for one more year. There HAS to be something coming back to take some kind of risk.

Then let's assume both are resigned at the end of their contracts to the teams they've been traded to. St Louis has 3 years left in him, he's a top 5 scorer in the league. Callahan has 1 season over 50 pts. Cally would need almost 6 seasons to pull off what St. Louis will do in 3.

If I were a GM, I'd want more than just Cally for St Louis.

The Rangers could pull this off cuz I think Yzerman and St. Louis have been butting heads for awhile since the he was left off the 2010 Olympic roster. The only thing that Yzerman could do would be to shop St. Louis around the league to squeeze a little more out of the Rangers.

Marty Marty Marty = Devil fans chanting Marty = Bad thing
Marty Marty Marty = St. Louis to NYR = Chant becomes a good thing

It sounds like it's St Louis. All the clues lead to it. Well respected, Olympian, first liner, in the east but on none of the teams boomer ruled out, gritty and skilled, has been guessed correctly by people tweeting, he hasn't ruled out St. Louis when the tweeters asked about him. I'd be pissed if the rangers got him.
