I expected to return and find this place in a tizzy over Brooks story.

I see some mention of it, but I'd caution to grasp why you're reading what you're reading when you're reading it;
The Rangers are trying to time this announcement out.
Again, they would never burn one of their own personalities like Boomer on something like this.
Now what's relevant in Brooks article is that they are in fact interested in MSL, and Callahan's name has plainly been attached.
The business about him being a rental and there may or may not picks is all scenery that will unfold likely the latest being the next 96 hours or so (I say 96 only because I dont believe Callahan suits up for us again, and next game is Thursday). it could happen much quicker.
But remember, Brooks story is fed to him based on a time lag of likely 2-3 days. Any good GM is going to stay ahead of the story, put out there what he wants. But Brooks publishing means its the first appearance in general NY media among beat guys. it's significant. The deal, whatever its final parameters, will stun no one after that. And they may still be haggling over some fine points. But I believe the deal is essentially done, and we're in the rollout phase. I've heard some anticdotal evidence that further supports what most interpret Boomer's claims to be.
And everything appears on point. Doesnt mean it's a lock, it takes central registry and an announcement to be formalized.
But because a Dreger (who btw, was a total ***** for his family members there with the Leafs during the MDZ talks, which stunned a lot of people in it's brazenness) or McKenzie hasn't seconded Boomer or even Brooks account means zilch. They haven't been fed yet. On past behavior, one of them may not be.
But the story has real legs.

Unless the rangers are playing boomer to try and up the offers from other teams. I can't see this playing out with tbl under the current conditions unless its mcdonagh for msl and a 1st/drumand. And I still hate it.

I don't know what he said but Francesa was the first to break it in the news. There was actually a couple of minutes where everyone thought it was bad info since no one else picked up on it and he broke it of all people but it turned out to be true.

So we should just ignore this part of Brooks' story? Whats the point in reaching? Im pretty sure the Rangers inquired, and Tampa said no. Period.

Quote:
Blueshirtsí general manager Glen Sather has inquired about a potential swap of team captains in which pending free agent Ryan Callahan would go to the Lightning in exchange for St. Louis, but Yzermanís absolute lack of interest in dealing his leading scorer in exchange for a rental property has been made clear to the Rangers.

the guy freezes an ovi jersey every playoff game vs the rangers.. you must not listen or watch boomer to much.. bc hes not an ego driven person at all. hes counter part craig is yes.. but boomer is a man of the people.. watch or listen to the show a bit more..

i hope its MSL, but wouldnt mind if its L. Eriksson either.. bos i can see wanting that grit, hard noise game and with eriksson's injury history and not really steping up like he was expected to, maybe hes on the radar.. not saying 1 for 1 either..
It's clear you REALLY like Boomer, so okay. I know all of that stuff (which is mostly irrelevant) but it still doesn't mean this trade is as complete as he's leading people to believe. And his show is terrible, so no thanks.

I am still holding out hope we'll see a move that exhibits foresight, patience, and some sort of strategy to build a team.
That is a king's ransom for a rental Callahan. If for whatever reason TB wants Cally that bad and thinks they can sign him and are willing to deal MSL for him you take that deal and you run as fast as you can.

MSL has put up over a PPG average the last decade. He hasn't lost a step and isn't going to in the next couple months or years most likely. If you get 1.5 years out of him producing at a high level for a Callahan who wants to test free agency it's idiotic not to.

Misleading people would hurt his brand. What's so special about tomorrow's show, or what's so special about the show's situation right now that he would think throwing away his personal good name would be worth the bump in ratings? This is a stupid conspiracy theory.

To the guys haggling a bit over who broke Torts story it was Francessa. They gave it to him a few minutes before his 1pm airtime and he was screaming at his crew to get ready cause they were cutting into the prior show to make the announcement.

BleedRangerBlue, at this stage you really have to parse language with certain bits of info and it helps to know something about who's saying it.

So, for instance, Brooks sentence that seems definitive to closing the door "but Yzermanís absolute lack of interest in dealing his leading scorer in exchange for a rental property has been made clear to the Rangers" is the foil.

Because it sure looks a helluva lot different like this, which coincidentally is the deal as has been hinted at by Boomer (and others).
"but Yzermanís absolute lack of interest in dealing his leading scorer in exchange for a rental property (alone) has been made clear to the Rangers. "

What it doesnt say is "Yzerman is open to dealing for that rental if certain picks/prospects/sweeteners are involved, and the two sides continue to hash out the details."

Obviously a trade like this begs a conditional pick with Cally's status up in the air. Again, I think thats settled too - as does Boomer - and this is just how they're incrementally putting it out.

So, believe what you will, but there's normally a lot of gorilla dust in the air with these things, almost always where Sather & Co. are involved.

I'm not saying he planned this entire thing out to get killer ratings for tomorrow. I'm saying he heard something, ran with it and maybe exaggerated how close to complete this deal actually is. Since it hasn't been confirmed by anyone reputable (quite the opposite, actually) he's deferring to his show tomorrow, because why wouldn't he? And I think it's equally stupid to blindly believe Boomer Esiason on an NHL deal where he won't even name players.

Been working a lot with wrestling again and working out when I start coughing up blood .. Turned out I had a bleeding ulcer that ruptured and was rushed in to surgery where I lost 60% of my stomach. I have lost 40 pounds in three weeks which is the good news but can't eat solid food for a minimum of six months and it's a long road to recovery.. I lost a great source of inside info when a rangers asst. coach was let go. Not naming names figure it out,, nash cally Stepan maybe in play ? Lol think of this who was just coached in the Olympics and what teams do those coaches coach in the nhl
