...with Burke in Tampa, there remains Jocelyn Thibault, Curtis Joseph, Mike Dunham, Steve Shields, Arturs Irbe, Byron Dafoe and Ron Tugnutt as the big goalies - but it should be noted that the list of teams seriously looking for netminders is a shorter list: Pittsburgh, Calgary (backup), Boston (backup), Phoenix, Anaheim (backup) and "maybe Vancouver" (also backup). So basically, there are 4 for-sure starting goaltenders looking for 1st line jobs out of 1, possibly two teams, at best.
Ok, T-bo is a Penguin.
We're always talk/hope about a trade with one of our G's.

So what?
Calgary got Sauve -- I assume they're out unless they want him in the AHL. Boston seems happy with Toivonen. I'd say Anaheim is a maybe because of Bryzgalov. The article mentions Vancouver is a maybe. That leaves Phoenix (Boucher - LeNeveu) as the only ones who really need one, imo. Won't get much of a return without any competition for a goalie from other teams. Especially when CuJo is out there, too, and Dunham and Shields (who aren't much imo but are good backups).
I know Toronto is a division rival, but wouldnt they need a goalie soon? Belfour is older than my grandma, and Tellqvist hasnt really proven himself anywhere.
The buyers are starting to thin out. I really don't know how this situation will shake out but Darcy said in those fan questions (site is down right now, can't check) that in all probability the situation will be resolved this season. He may even have said in camp but I think he said this season.
Things look grim ... but remember, Dominic Hasek and Eddie Belfour are out there starting, neither has an adequate backup, and neither will make it to January.
