The Kings are a darn good team and it is really a shame that we had to lose to them last time.

Yeah, hopefully there'll be revenge on our minds for that bogus shootout goal, because all in all we played a pretty decent road game against them the last time(until we fell apart in the third.).. It'd be nice to finally shake the Kings monkey off our back.

Yea, as a very general statement, they've had our number. It seems that way anyway. They are pretty solid, and will beat the crap out of a team. We have to be smart and use some good skating, and finish our checks because if we don't, they WILL.

Well, we did just win 3 games, so we're due to lose between 2-4.

I think they'll call someone up (Pivko?) and we will role right through this. It is time for our first line to come alive and take matters into their own hands. Legwand will make slightly better passes that PK will bury.

patched up lines we should probably expect tonight;

kariya-legwand-erat
stevenson-perreault-upshall
hartnell-johnson-hall
hordichuk-smithson-gamache

LA has shown a very strong pk so far this year (4th at 86.6%), really strong 5 on 5 goalscoring (3rd in the league at 1.47 scored/allowed ratio).. their pp has struggled some, like ours, at 16.3 % (20th)

remember where we lost this game against them week before last...up 2-0 with us having a 2 minute 5 on 3 at the end of the first and not being able to score..

expect a barnburner tonight to be honest..

What's really irritating is that those line combinations are probably accurate. If Gamache can only succeed on one of the top two lines, put him there. Tonight would definitely be that night to make the move if Sully is out. Stevenson has no business being anywhere near the second line, especially at the expense of Hartnell or Gamache.

These lines make much more sense:

Kariya-Legwand-Erat
Gamache-Perreault-Upshall
Hartnell-Johnson-Hall
Hordichuk-Smithson-Stevenson

Gamache and Upshall are used to playing with each other as well as the Hartnell-Johnson-Hall line.

Gamache is not a top line player, he's not even a NHL player...

I'm up for giving him some 2nd line ice time as one last chance to prove himself.

That's fine. That said, Stevenson isn't a second line player either. Gamache has the scoring touch to play on the second line and Stevenson doesn't.

When juggling lines due to injuries, Gamache playing in a scoring role makes much more sense than Stevenson in a scoring role.

Besides, how anyone can judge that Gamache (an offensive winger) can't play in the NHL because he can't play on the third/fourth line in a checking role is beyond me. Let's try Kariya on that fourth line and see what happens.

Gamache has good offensive skills. He wasn't getting the playing time because the depth of our wingers forced him to play out of position on the third/fourth line. Now that have room due to the injuries, it makes the most sense to play Gamache where it maximizes his potential.

David

NO DrSingle and I are Right. You and Trigg are wrong. Gamache will get the Hat if he skates on the 2nd line.

( hipcheck's reverse praise trick didn't work on Gamache so now I'm trying positive thinking techniques. If that doesn't work it's waiver time)

Well Avery certainly won't fight Hordichuk. Hell Avery ducked both Tootoo and Walker last year. and after he talked all that crap about Gauthier and Gauthier tried to fight Avery. Avery backed down. He's a punk plain and simple. It won't be long untill someone just sucker punches him.

even without sullivan, we can beat this bunch tonight.. we're faster than they are up and down the lineup.. we have as much grit as they do, and we have much better goaltending..

some will cry "wah wah, we never beat LA", and they're right, we never used to beat them. but this is not the same LA team that used to be able to control and cycle the puck down low on us at will. Jason Allison used to own us, Luc Robitaille used to own us, Ziggy Palfrey used to own us... but they're not kings anymore.. this is a much less physical bunch of forwards than we have seen from them..

Labarbera saved them in the first game this year, he won't be in net tonight.

We had success grinding the puck with stevenson and hordichuk and upshall and johnson last game, but the pp failed us in that game (we were 0 for 5, including not scoring on that crucial 5 minor major against avery that would have iced the first game). Luckily, our pp is showing signs of life right now. And trotz having really moved sully to the 2nd pp unit these last few games, means that his absence shouldn't really kill us on the pp tonight.

Tonight is a game i fully expect Vokoun to step up and limit them to a goal or two, we just have to find a way to put three up on the board.

Obviously, this is an important game. It's important because it's the last game of a homestand before we head out for a 3 game roadtrip. You want to go on that trip not on a losing note. It's important because sullivan is injured, and we don't know for how long, and the way you avoid your team feeling down over an injury to a key player is prove to yourself that you can win without them. It's important because we have never had success against LA, and it's very likely we'll have to play them in the playoffs on down the road. It's important because LA will probably win the Pacific this year and is truly one of the top 5 teams in the west.

now somebody go out there and find a way to win.

going into game 17 tonight, the two most startling statistics on the pred scoresheet;

hartnell with a plus/minus of +8
kariya with a plus/minus of -6

unofficially, expect sullivan to miss "significant time" with this groin strain reoccurance... two weeks the first time, with a re-injury this soon upon return, makes me think they'll sit him a minimum of another week and a half, which would be tonight's game + the three game road trip..

i personally don't expect to see sullivan back until possibly the 24th in the first home game after the trip in the next game against LA at the earliest..

this after talking to a guy who talked to david boclair of the Murfreesboro paper

Too bad we have more talent/depth/skill then you guys do.

The current Kings team is better than that one. If you think we can't "cycle and control the puck" your saddley mistaken.

Vokoun saved you guys in that first game. We absolutley dominated you guys in the second and third periods. The Preds were lucky to even get 2 goals. One of them was a complete fluke.

We got almost twice as many shots on goal in that game as the Preds did.

38-22. Any time you have a shot differential like that you can tell who was in control of the game. The final out come could have easily been 5-1 Kings.

Consider yourself lucky if we score less then 4 goals tonight.
