Jiri Slegr?

Any word on where Slegr might end up? Anyone read about any teams with interest?

I was hoping he'd be back in black and Gold, but it doesn't look like that's going to happen.

I liked what he brought to the team last season. Nice offensive Dman, worked the PP well, and showed a lot of heart/effort along the boards in the Dzone. Will be a good cheap fit for someone.

No official rumors, but he'd be a great fit to replace Sopel in Vancouver. He left the Canucks on very good terms as well. Third time's the charm?

Not really related at all, but on the LetsGoPens.com board, Slegr's nickname is Liquid Sexy Eyes.

I was sort of contemplating the possibility of Slegr in the other Black and Gold (the first black and gold he played for

), but am unsure about it. He seemed to be solid enough with Boston and could prove to be pretty valuable because he is decent defensively and can move the puck well.

This guy was shipped out of Pittsburgh extremely fast for minimal return, and our team had no defense at the time. You have to wonder who's daughter he slept with...

Andy Ference too. Wonder who he slept with to get shipped out of town so fast.

Yeah, I heard it was because they just didn't have a spot of him...Had to play the kids or something along those lines...Numbers game.

I'm sure your well aware...

Yiri gets pigeon-holed as a back end D man, but I think he plays above that on many nights. Gotta love that from your supposed 5-6th D. As i've said on previous posts on the B's board, imo Slegr ran the PP in BOS more effectivly than Gonchar.

Jiri was a good player in the Burgh. I thought he was our top offensive blueliner most of the time. He wasn't a HUGE liability in his own end. Make room for Roszival and Hans Jonson...

Yeah, anytime someone wants to bad mouth Slegr...They say that he makes some tough give-away passes sometimes, ala Berard and bah-bah-bah-bah, bah! J.Girard

...But I only can recall one off hand (saw every game). Slegr was very solid all around, best in the Ozone, but like I said...Busted his @$$ on D...

Slegr and Brad Lukowich are my top two picks for the #5 slot on the Canucks blueline.

As a Pens fan I still like Slegr. He was underrated when he was here.

I would have Prefered Slegr over Khavanov.

I've always liked Slegr, very good two way game.

yeah, maybe he's a real schmuck to deal with GM's, cause it seems everyone likes his game.

i liked him as a pen and wouldn't have qualms signing him back, but it's really not our need unless we would get rid of tarnstrom...

That has to be it. He must be a "locker room problem" or something because as a player he definately could fit into nearly any teams top six.

Slegr should go back to Vancouver, should be a great 5th man.
Right now, we are missing a 5th and 6th NHL level Dman.

When Constantine was coach, he just plain hated Slegr. Also, he played 3 and 1/2 years with the Pens. So, I wouldn't call that fast.

As for Ference, he played worse than Ian Moran. I would never think that any player could do that. That's why he was traded.

Hey! Ian Moran. Another guy who's taking up a a valuable Dspot which could be used for Slegr, in Boston.

But hey...He's a lunch pale guy, and everything.

I'd take him back. we need another D-Man, and he may be all we can afford now that joe signed that ridiculous contract.

Plus, he's the only guy I've ever seen playing hockey with a turtleneck.

I mean he left so fast. No rumors. No disputes. Management seemed happy with him, then boom. Gone.

Ference played better than Moran. He just wasn't playing the way the team expected him to after he had a great 2001 playoffs.

Hopefully the rumors of Slegr re-signing with Boston will soon be reality.

I wanted him back, but to be honest, felt it had little chance of happening. Looks like Bruins brass realizes Girard isn't such a sure thing...Slegr will be great to have around.

This is a really good move by Boston...A lot of people let Jiri slip through the cracks, glad MOC wasn't one of them.

Well...This still needs to become official...I can't help but eat the hook though.
