Fredrik Claesson

Is time to call up Fredrik Claesson and give a break (bench) Cowen?

Which would mean we have no confidence in Pat Wiercioch unless we trade Phillips away.

Would Claesson style of play cut down the team defensive mistakes and stabilize our D?

Could he save our season?

Claesson Karlsson
Methot Ceci
Wiercioch Gryba

If (when) we trade Phillips, I'd like to see Claesson and Boro both get some reps. Just cut Corvo and use the places to see what we have and how it could fit.

Expecting Claesson to be better than Cowen is almost is desperation and proposing calling him up and playing him with EK is laughable.

There are no D in Bingo that are going to save the season!

IMO the best moves would be to get PW back in the line-up, and restore the D pairings as they were when Phillips was injured.

Up front, Turris-MacArthur-Conacher, Zibanejad-Ryan-Hoffman, Spezza-Michalek-Stone, Smith-Greening-Condra/Neil.

Hopefully Murray can find takers for Phillips and possibly Greening and/or Condra allowing Grant to be recalled.

Really??? You think Claesson would be any worse than Cowen......Are you watching the games?

The way cowen is playing right now, claessen and borowiecki are both better options. Claessens style would benefit the blueline (im not saying give him 20 minutes a night)

Karlsson worked really well with edler, why not try wiercioch with him?

The only issue with bringing up Claessen is that we are already carrying 8 D. We really need to shove one or two out the door before that makes sense. Luckily the trade deadline is only a few days away, and that may be exactly what happens.

I would love to see what he can do against NHL competition. It would be a great move to give him a few game this year so that he has a better idea of what to expect and what he needs to work on going into next year. He could become a really solid player for us.

If he's being called up, you want to give him a chance to succeed.

For a left-right combination, EK is the best option. We could also have Gryba-Claesson on the 3rd pairing.

Methot - EK
Phillips/Wiercioch - Ceci
Gryba-Claesson

Cowen

Corvo is a non issue
Cowen needs to sit
I think 1 of Phillips/Wiercioch will be traded

Time to jettison the dead weight. This includes Phillips and Corvo on defense. It's time for the kids to come up and show us what they can do. They can't be worst than it is now.

Edler isn't the be all end all of nhl defencmem.. Similar styles. Gryba clearly needs Methot.. And cowen clearly needs the press box.. Maybe playing another possession d man with karlsson wouldn't be so bad.

Cowen isn't going to improve sitting in the press box

I'm just as angry at him as we all are but if we want him to improve he needs to play

He seemed to play better after sitting a game out last time, so why not now?

I mean that if you sit Cowen for a game or two you don't call up someone

You dress one of the players you've been sitting

Edler is terrible, I wouldn't take him on our team for free. I mean that. He is exactly the type of player that we need to be MILES away from our ice.

He is soft, zero determination, not good in either zone (though does appear to have skills), and is absolutely gutless.

He's not the Swede you all think he is...

He's been awful all season despite getting consistent minutes. He is not improving at all and they should seriously be looking at trading him or sending him down to pull his head out of his ass.

Claesson wont be called up forget about it. Look at our D, I really doubt he would pass in front of all the defensemen we have right now ... Karlsson,Methot,Phillips,Cowen,Gryba,Ceci,Corvo,Wi ercoch and Borowiecki is a better option right now but thats my opinion.

What Ottawa really needs to do is find a good defensemen in the range of 28 to 32 years old and that could play with Cowen. Cowen wont get better playing with Karlsson or any of our yound D. He needs a mentor and we dont have that now. A guy like Erhoff would be amazing.

We really need to fix our backend and now.

Our NHL defenseman list is a lot shorter: Ceci, Methot and EK

People are complaining we have a ton of Left D. The only NHL LF we have is Methot. It's not time to trade our best lefties (Claessan/Wickstrand) in our system.

I still have hopes for Cowen btw to bounce back.

Apparently Ottawa management is very high on Claesson so I doubt that he gets traded. Heard that if Ottawa falls out of the playoff picture at the end of the year that Claesson will get some minutes in Ottawa.

Bsens 0-3 since Boro went down with the lower body and are allowing a lot of goals. Claesson might be able to fill Boro's shoes in a couple of years but there's a ways to go. It's good for him to now get a taste of having to play top AHL players.
