Maybe? I'd say he's definitely available for the right price.

Gorges is a maybe.

Solid signing. I hope the leafs get Stralman in FA for 3-4M.

It'll be funny when MacDonald gets 5M in FA. It would be even funnier if Edmonton signs him for that.

Callahan is gone, IMO. Girardi, I feel, have us a decent deal. Probably .5-.75 less than he could have milked on the open market. I'm happy.

Good cap hit but too long for Girardi.

Was just about to post this, possibly a year too long with his style of play but other than that I think this is a very good deal.

Not sure I like this deal. I see Girardi as a guy who will basically follow the career path of Chris Phillips. Don't see him being worth 5.5 mil for more than 2 or 3 years of his contact, and those will only be in years that the Rangers go deep/at least to the 2nd round.

Further to @DarrenDreger, Girardi deal includes full NMC in first 3 yrs and modified NTC in final 3

In 4 years he'll only have 2 years left and the cap will be what? He'll only be 33 and thus far he's barely missed any games in his career. If he becomes a second pair who needs less minutes for the final 2 years, so be it.

Good deal for NY, would of liked him in Anaheim at that price, well worth the risk of extra year on contract to lock a guy like that up.

Girardi doesn't play the game recklessly. He might be declining by the end (last 2 years) but I doubt we see anything precipitous.

With the cap going up, a 5.5 AAV will not be an issue.

With Torts gone his career will be extended by several years. He is not shot blocking as much anymore.

I'm ecstatic with this deal. He should be Captain when/if Callahan is gone. Guy is a ****ing warrior.

Doubt he'll be worth that much the last 2 or so years of that deal. Defensive dmen don't age too well.

phew, I was a little scared to see the RD with Girardi. So now hes locked back in to go with Klein and perhaps McIlrath next yr if Stralman walks

McDonaugh, Staal, Moore on LD.............Falk never plays but likely stays as a spare

good good. 5.5 is not bad either, he would of gotten more in Free Agency
