Zero risk.

Article - Apparently he attended Tampa Bay's training camp and didn't earn a contract.

WHL From Above:
Quote:
Solid player for the Hitmen. Does a little bit of everything. I'm sure some teams rank him as a draftable player, even though it's his third time through the draft.
Red Line Report:
Quote:
One of the major reasons for the Calgary Hitmen's turnaround this season has been Brady Brassart's outstanding two-way play down the middle.

Since coming over from Spokane last summer, Brassart has become Mr. Steady game-in and game-out for the Hitmen. He goes to the highly contested areas and generates the type of dirty offense that wins a team hockey games, and most of his chances are created at even strength.

Brassart still needs to add some bulk to his frame, but he already plays the type of chippy, aggressive game that endears him to coaches. He doesn't have the high-end skill set to be a top two line guy in the pros, but the method he uses to generate offense has shown he might be capable of playing the gritty third-line checking center role while chipping in occasionally at the offensive end.

#14? Noob.

I like it, too. Well over PPG in last two seasons, a good +/-, too. Hard to say anything about his game from that clip, although he doesn't exactly reek confidence. I don't know, might just be naturally shy.

Either way, a good signing. No risk and medium reward.

Good size and his stats seem good.

No complaints from me.

Sounds more like he has the potential to replace the loss of Larsson, though not as likely to reach that potential.

Center depth is never really a bad thing. Wonder why he was passed over in previous drafts?

Probably somewhere between McMillan and Brodziak?

Like it. Did not cost any assets and could be a bottom 6 guy some day. At the least, Iowa gets a two way guy with some toughness.

Watched Gabriel play today for the first time today.... Gotta say I was impressed. Sounds as though he'll be signing with the Wild any day now.

Larsson was a 3rd liner with potential top 6 ability. This guy is a 4th liner with potential 3rd liner ability. I think he is about as likely to hit his 3rd liner target as well as Larsson is able to hit his top 6 target.

Either way, good move. I already like him more than Phillips.

i will take you up on that bet just for fun. of course "better" should be defined. Gabriel is supposed to be a fourth line tough guy. This guy? third liner? Junior scoring success as an overager isn't a sure sign it'll work in the NHL. I hope he does work out, though.

Tough guys don't play hockey, they kill time between actual hockey players being on the ice.

The fact that this guy was signed now, when you would think all eyes would be on trades, leads me to believe that this is a sign of an upcoming trade, and that the Wild will be losing bodies.
