I doubt this has anything to do with Lou wanting to get rid of him. I think this is all Marty wanting more playing time

It's not just the past few games though. He's started 14 straight with a record of 10-2-2.

I personally see no reason as to why Marty can't go to another team. Do people really care that much about what club he ends his career in? Sure, it's a nice story, but his number will be retired in NJ and he will work in the office/management for sure.

Why does it matter?

Sad to see him leave NJ...one of the best goaltenders of all time and a great guy too. One of my favorites.
I don't think he's more than a backup. His stats show that Brodeur just hdoesn't have it anymore. A .900 save% isn't good.

I don't really know why a contender would trade for him. He's not going to upgrade your goaltending. Only provide insurance.

He will... Probably do one of those sign for a day deals when he's officially ready to retire... not the same, but it'll likely happen.

He played 70+ games many seasons. If they didn't give him that, it'd be a really bad move. That being said, I doubt it comes to that unless traded before. NJ would never do that.

Honestly, I don't think he ends up with the Wild. He probably wouldn't get the playing time that he wants anyway. Many think he's Minny-bound, which means he'll end up elsewhere. Isn't that how it usually works?

One thing I don't get is why there isn't any bad blood between Minnesota and NJ if this thing goes through. First Parise now Brodeur? Granted--the situation is different, but Minnesota has made my blood boil before and here we go again.

I hope to god you're right. I'll keep the bench warm for him in Chicago, I'll make the 20 minute commute to the UC

Am I misunderstanding? Doesn't there have to be a deal in place to waive the clause?

This won't end well for Broduer if he gets traded.

He's not a starter anymore, he should retire with grace.

Sorry to say but Marty is going to look back and regret he did this after he retires. He's not gonna be a starter anywhere

No, when trade talks are far enough along that the potential of a completed deal is "imminent" ( couple hours maybe a day away ) the team can approach a player and tell them they think a deal can get done will you waive if it gets completed. If the player says yes then negotiations continue...if he says no...then well it saves GM's time.

In some cases deals come together so quickly that players are asked after a deal is in place.

I dont see a single thing he has said that he wants to be a starter. He simply wants to be a backup with more playing time. Cory has been phenomenal so he hasn't got much chance to have that much playing time anymore. He just wants a chance at more starts

He's not the only one they should be trading, the Devils have become an old folks home, time to change that.

Brodeur can't compete with any goalie for the starter's job anymore. He's done. Should have retired after last season, IMO.

To be fair, Chiarelli himself thought the deal was done and probably told Ward.

It'll be odd to see Broduer in another jersey but realistically, he just isn't a great goalie or even a good one anymore. He's 26 in wins, 39th in SV%, and and 19 in GAA. Not sure a cup team even wants him. Maybe he wants to be a back up on a cup contending team and I guess that is what people are speculating but cup winning teams tend to have their starters in place.

Last six games for Kumper wins against Vancouver,Edmonton,Nashville and Tampa Bay, losses to Calgary and Colorado.Edmonton,Nashville and Vancouver have been making lots of goalies look amazing this year.Calgary is the second lowest scoring team in the league they scored 4 on 32 shots Colorado (who have been making good goalies look bad all year) scored 4 on 23 shots.I like Kuemper a lot but he's not as amazing as people are saying.

Even though the Hawks are in our conference, I wouldn't mind seeing Marty go there. I've always liked the guy, and would rather see him get one more chance at the Cup. He won't get that with the Wild. And I just can't see him getting many games at all here with the way Kuemper is playing at the moment. Of course if Kuemps falters or we by some miracle end up in a long playoff battle, then he may see more time. But those are "if" situations. And it sounds like even though he's willing to be a back-up, he still wants to get a decent amount of starts. I don't know if he'd be happy sitting a lot should the kid in net at the moment continue on a tear.
