Also the Hawks need a 2nd line center. They could be looking at Eller.

Unless it's to block their competition I don't see why the Hawks make a move for Markov, they are stacked on D and have one of the league's best PPs

Kings, Ducks or Sharks will be Andrei's new home if he's dealt, and that's a big IF, predicting status quo - maybe add a depth guy like Robidas

At least, if the report is true, that they have a notion that they might have to move Markov.

Grow the balls and do it, Bergevin.

You already know how this is gonna play out, Bergevin will keep waiting until a team comes in and overpays, that won't happen, and Markov will go into the summer with no contract. And like usual, player tests the UFA market at that point and signs elsewhere

Eller is hardly a 3rd line center here, if they're looking for a 2nd line center, it's Plekanec, not Eller.

Cause last time he got what he wanted, a 3 year contract which in case you forgot all blamed Gauthier at the time because Markov had 2 back to back season ending injuries. Now, he wants the same contract lenght and Bergevin has been saying no. What will make Markov change his mind from that? A team in free agency will give him that 3rd year

And you know that because you're Markov's agent ? I hardly doubt Bergevin will keep Markov if he thinks he can't re-sign him...

Everything will be find, this team is loaded with money...

A good thing about LA getting Markov would be that they don't really have the cap space to resign him so he'd make it to UFA status probably.

Where we could resign him.

Doesn't the new CBA prevent us from signing a player we traded? Could be wrong though

I'm not worried about the Habs financials that's for sure, but it's happened too many times us losing players via free agency in the last 10 years

I believe that's only with buyouts & when matching restricted free agents

I somehow have a feeling it was MacNeil + a 1st.
Assuming Teravainen is off the table , if we could get Danault and Hartman that would be decent enough.
Timmins had McNeil as non-draft a few years back, so doubt he would be on their radar.

Don't count too much on a player coming back and re-signing with the team that just traded him.

How is Eller a 2nd line C, especially on a cup contender?

He is and he proved it to you when he had decent wingers. Now he's had bourque the most useless player in the NHL, loses the puck every time he touches it.

Markov is not going to be traded,so if you don't trade Markov you have to add to the team at the deadline otherwise there is no use re-signing Markov.Look at your counterparts Bergevin Ray Shero with Pittsburgh he will add at the deadline,he will replace Dupuis, and Letang, look at Peter Chiarelli in Boston he will trade Malcolm Subban for someone like Vanek, that is why those GM'S win they are not afraid to go for it,if you want to be in that category Bergevin it is time to step up,go get some scoring like Yakupov, size like Stewart, right handed d-man like Sekera.

I like Eller but he's shown he's not a 2nd line centre. He's just not consistent enough or has the offensive creativity to be a #2. A number 2 centre should always be in a position to be creating offence despite his wingers. If he's not getting points at the clip he's been ineffective for 2 months, it's indicative of the player, not the wingers.

Case in point, look at Briere. Playing on a 4th line, different wings etc and he still manages to put up some numbers. When he has the puck he looks like he can be a threat and creates offence, even with Parros as a winger

I like Eller and if he can put his game together he can be a Brendan Sutter type player but no way is he a 2nd line centre, especially on a cup contender where depth at centre is crucial.

Pittsburgh and Boston are perennial contenders. Neither of those teams made deadline moves until their teams proved they could compete with the best of the best in the play-offs.
