You can thank Country Club Q.

Meanwhile, Q's pet Handzus continues to "anchor" the second line.

The Country Club with a 2 Cup wins + WCF loss over last 5 years?

29 other teams wish they could get into that club

What kind of scrub coach has under 700 NHL regular season wins, though?

You mean the same coach that lost in the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs to the Phoenix Coyotes?

Lots of teams lose in the first round. Less win two cups in four years, and I'm hardly a big Q fan.

Interesting ,,

Lets go back to 1993-94

Detroit Red Wings 46-30-8 (100pts) and #1 seed in West
San Jose Sharks 33-35-16 (82 pts) and #8 seed in West

1st round result (Sharks in 7)

That Bowman failure was a hell of a lot more embarrassing then Hawks loss to Yotes

Who do you think had to sit down with Country Club Q and tell him to get his **** together, especially against the Detroit Red Wings in the playoffs last year?

Stan Bowman: "Hey dad."

Scotty Bowman: "Yes son."

Stan Bowman: "Tell that moron behind the bench to get his act together before the Chicago Blackhawks blow a glorious opportunity at another Stanley Cup."

Scotty Bowman: "It's time."

I've always found the "Country Club Q" nickname kind of ironic considering Q has had the least amount of time of any NHL coach to spend at the country club lately. Too busy coaching hockey early in the summer to play golf.

Was this in response to me saying that Scotty Bowman was better than "good"?

Did you reply to the wrong post?

How many Stanley Cups has Coach Q won without the Bowmans in the front office?

How many cups for Bowman when he didn't coach team loaded with HOF talent? Last I look he took Buffalo nowhere

There's defending Q and there's defending Q by discrediting the greatest hockey mind of all time.

Mike Babcock, who took an inferior hockey team last season beat the Anaheim Ducks in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, and with the same inferior hockey team came within an overtime goal in Game 7 to beat the Chicago Blackhawks in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Mike Babcock, Stanley Cup Champion and two Olympic Gold Medals on his resume.

I think Mike Babcock is better than "good" (please don't jump all over me this time).

I think most (maybe not all) coaches that have won multiple Stanley Cups would qualify as good. There is a lot higher praise than "good." I sure think Scotty Bowman and Mike Babcock deserve more.

And yes, I do think Q is a good coach.

Coaching helps, but teams don't win without talent.

You talk about this meeting like none of us know about it. We all do.

The difference is I don't see this as such a horrible thing. I count it a blessing the Hawks have one of the greatest coaches of all time sitting in the press box. I also don't expect Q's insight of the game to be more than Scotty Bowman's. To be honest, I don't expect Q's insight of the game to be better than Mike Babcock's.

Maybe Q is a good coach but Scotty and Babcock are better. Isn't that possible?

Don't you think that Coach Q is too stubborn for his own good?

Exhibit A: Calendar Year 2014 Michal Handzus

And he took a superior hockey team to a playoff loss to the Nashville Predators in the first round. You're hatred for Q is petty and it invalidates almost any other point you'd try to make. You think Babcock didn't play Dan Cleary over Nyquist for half the season? And its good to know that when discussing Babcock Stanley Cups count, but not for Quenville.

Yes. A lot of people are stubborn. Michael Jordan was too stubborn getting Doug Collins fired. Mike Ditka and Buddy Ryan were too stubborn during the Bears Superbowl run. Ozzie Guillen was too stubborn during the White Sox World Series. I've just come to accept that.

Stubborness often comes with competitive guys. Who knows, Handzus could be Q's downfall. To be honest, if Handzus is our biggest problem, we have it pretty good. At least our coach isn't at odds with a superstar (Torterlla, Melrose, Eddie O, etc).
