I just don't like it. We have Girgs who should be learning to dominate at the AHL level imo, and another potential center being moved. If Larsson is viewed by people as scoring winger in the NHL, I am willing to listen to the rationale having not seen him since the demotion.
The bolded has been talked about a lot, and I agree. I love what Girgs has done this year in the NHL, but I think he could've benefited a lot playing for the Amerks.

Five out of six points on a three-game weekend. Can't complain. The Amerks could use Ruhewedel back and a replacement for McNabb, though. They have incredible offensive firepower, even when they're barely generating any chances because Cassidy's system sucks.

@SabresProspects

Joel Armia took a harsh two-handed slash late in the third period of today's loss. #nocall

3/9 - Amerks end three-game weekend with 5-4 OTL to Barons:
Quote:
Despite jumping out to a two-goal advantage late in the second period, the Rochester Americans fell to the Oklahoma City Barons 5-4 in overtime Sunday evening at The Blue Cross Arena. Brandon Davidson was the difference maker for the Barons, scoring the winner with 2:03 left in the extra session as the Amerks closed out their three-game weekend with five out of a possible six points to remain within four points of first place in the American Hockey League’s North Division standings.

Phil Varone capped a productive weekend, finishing with his second straight three-point (1+2) effort and seven points in his past three games. Luke Adam scored his team-leading 26th goal of the season and for the second time in as many games, while Colton Gillies and Kevin Porter also scored goals and Rasmus Ristolainen added two helpers. Goaltender Matt Hackett got the starting nod in net and made 27 saves for the Amerks.

Apparently Tuzzolino elbowed him at some point earlier in the game and Pinizzotto left the bench without gloves and a stick and jumped him.

I'm fairly certain both were on the ice taking their regular shift when the altercation happened. Pinizotto did appear to go far out of his way to jump Tuzz though. Like blueline to blueline with Tuzz's back to him. He was relentless. It could have been a lot uglier if Pinizotto landed those first few blows from behind. Still scary though.

Just watched the 3/9 game highlights above. Good puck movement on the PP. Hackett looks terrible.

The American Hockey League announced that Oklahoma City Barons left wing Ben Eager and right wing Steve Pinizzotto have each been suspended for one (1) game as a consequence of their actions in a game at Rochester on March 9.

Eager received an automatic one-game suspension under the provisions of AHL Rule 23.4 for accumulating his second game misconduct in the “abuse of officials” category this season.

Pinizzotto received an automatic one-game suspension under the provisions of AHL Rule 23.3 for accumulating his third game misconduct in the “general” category this season.

Eager and Pinizzotto will both miss Oklahoma City’s game Tuesday (March 11) vs. San Antonio.

Every year this happens. Last year the Amerks lost Pardy and McNabb on defense right around the same time.

Sulzer will be back soon, assuming Ruhwedel will be sent back down when that happens.

It's almost like losing 1.5 defenseman. The presence of Bagnall did wonders for Risto's game over the last month. Hopefully he can find the same chemistry with a new partner.

Now their defense is really unbalanced. They have all the best guys on the right side and all the crap on the left side.

With Bagnall out, McNabb gone, and Klesla failing to report, hopefully he'll bring in a good top 4 lefty for them.

@kevinoDandC - #Amerks captain Drew Bagnall will undergo season-ending shoulder surgery.

‏@kevinoDandC - The Drew Bagnall injury happened quite some time ago, #Amerks coach Chadd Cassidy said. Played through it. Re-injured over weekend.

‏@kevinoDandC - #Amerks coach Chadd Cassidy said a search is underway to find D-man. Major need for a veteran with size. Need stay-at-home presence.

‏@kevinoDandC - If #Sabres are trying to find a Drew Bagnall replacement for #Amerks, they have until 3:00 pm ET Wednesday to make a deal with another AHL team.

I wonder if Murray, who likes his collegiate free agents given Ottawa's history with him on staff, goes after Michael Young from UN-O? Probably the best UFA coming out of the NCAA's this spring. Or BU's Ahti Oksanen (only a sophomore)?

I hope McCabe turns pro, as well. Wisconsin may be done within three weeks. He could join the Amerks for the stretch drive. I'm not saying wait for McCabe in lieu of adding another defenseman, but he would help.

Have there been any reports on when he will turn pro?

Possible. He'd certainly help balance things out by being a solid left D.

Maybe Murray can get a D on loan from an AHL team already out of the playoffs. The Iowa Wild look to be out of the playoffs and Murray is good friends with the Wild GM.
