Oh god, I hope Garth doesn't see Dubnyk on there...

There's no chance of that.

If someone who needs goal-tending backup doesn't pick up Dubnyk, their GM should be fired!

He's definitely a better player than Orr though.
I would say Orr has better hocley intellect, but less speed, and less efficient at using his knowledge at game speed. But if, for some reason, we had to put either Orr or McLaren in an important role, and/or play them 10+min a night, I'd go with Orr (in fact, Orr has done this).

With that being said, anyone who claims McLaren, shouldn't be too disappointed with him.

Things change, as do opinions. Just because at one point someone maybe thought Dubnyk was a better goalie than X, doesn't mean those same people didn't see more of them and go "Hmm, I was wrong, he's not".
Caley with the logical argument again.

I'll admit I was quite the Dubnyk supporter myself before this season, and he's just fallen flat, but that doesn't take away the good games he did play or the potential he did have.

I was disappointed to see how Nashville handled Dubnyk. Not entirely sure he had a fair shake. Carter Hutton doesn't appear to be any better either.

I can't even see the Admirals giving Dubnyk the #1 spot in Milwaukee.

Nah...He was given one start and blew it. That trade was all about dropping a bad contract in Hendricks.

A team that is looking to trade a goalie might be smart to pick up Dubs as a seat-filler (NJ if Brodeur is heading out, BUF if Halak is moving, etc...).

Don't see anyone else getting picked up (tho McLaren probably should)

In the two games dubnyk started he was truly atrocious. Poor vision, side to side movement, somehow managed to play in such a way that even his natural size wasn't helping him. If he clears waivers at least he'll get to work with Korn and maybe unlearn some of his bad habits and might have a chance of someone picking him up next season. With Rinne coming back off IR finally this really shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone. If he didn't have to clear waivers to begin with they probably would've had Hutton/Maz up in nashville instead of Hutton/Dub quite frankly.

Dubnyk is like putting a 6x4 wall in front of a 4x6 target. He's awful, and no amount of good defense was going to bail him out.

I dunno, pretty sure he's better than Varlamov.

If that was the goal, then I don't know why. Hendricks has been a god-send for Edmonton.

I don't care what trades go down up until Wednesday. Frazer MacLaren being put on waivers is my favourite deadline move.

Why doesn't Calgary pick up McLaren? McGrattan is almost in his mid-30's and Westgarth can only take a few more KOs until I see him retiring. And don't forget that just this past week the Flames best minor league Enforcer Lance MacDermid announced his retirement at the age of 24 so why wouldn't McLaren be a nice fit for the Flames organization?

Don't get your hopes up, if no team claims him he will play for the Marlies and Carlyle will bring him back to the Leafs soon enough.

Hendricks was entirely redundant in Nashville and far overpaid for his marginal benefit to the team. Glad to hear he's providing something of use to Edmonton at least.

No. Stop making this **** up

There were Oiler fans that probably didn't want to add Hall to Dubnyk to trade for Price.

Yea. I'd take 6 of him at that contract for our bottom 6. Or 5 plus Gazdic

Hendricks is redundant to every team except Edmonton, who's GM finally learned what type of players you need in the bottom 6.

The NHL can be very unforgiving. There are so many good goalies that you can go from being a decent starter to out of the league in less than a year if you dont perform. Dont see anyone claiming Dubnyk. Especially not the Wild that has been mentioned a few times here. Kuemper is a much better goalie than Dubnyk at this point.

Wow I knew Dubnyk wasn't great in Edmonton but I attributed that a bit to Edmonton's defence. I really thought either Hutton or Mazanec would be out now that Rinne is back. Why'd they even trade for Dubnyk?

Agreed. I wouldn't be surprised if Calgary claims him. With Westgarth being knocked out last game, Burke and Hartley may want a replacement for him. They like two enforcers in the line up.

A damning indictment of Dubnyk's current level that he didn't get more games in Nashville considering how bad Carter Hutton has been. Dubnyk might salvage a career as a backup, but given his tendency for allowing soul-crushing softies even when he's playing well, he's never going to be a good starter.
