I hope not. Ottawa would certainly want young players back, probably a pick or two as well. We don't need to start selling talented, young assets and picks for a 30 year old, one year band-aid at center.

Ok lets get these negotiations rolling Bonk.

Leafs have good young defensemen in the system. We also have a 1st round pick that we can offer you.

Kadri is available, but only if you take some salary back and promise really hard that Spezza won't get injured again.

Spezza/Kesler could make some sense as the framework of a deal...

Oh and Nashville would have to clear $3m in cap space just to fit him under the cap.

I hope not, unless Ottawa wants prospects that haven't panned out and 2nd rounders.

chicago is most likely dance partner as they need an established guy to go in the 2c roll but to make the dollars work sens would have to take back something they dont want on top of there demands.....namely versteeg or bickel....

Haha...Sens take that and run.

Spezza is as slow as molasses and one of the worst defensive players in the league. *a PERFECT fit* for Edmonton.

This has to be a financial decision, right? Spezza is the Sens' biggest cap hit. The Senators can trade Spezza entirely for non-roster assets (not that they would, but they could) and still meet the salary floor.

Your first part is 100% wrong. Your second part is 100% right.

He's not slow, he's just slow in effort.

I doubt we'd move him to our archrival. Last trade we made together was 1998, when we sent you guys an 8th rounder for Per Gustafsson.

I wouldn't hold my breath.

I'm honestly not surprised if this is true. Turris and Zibby can be a solid 1,2 punch down the middle with Smith centering the 3rd line.

imo, Spezza is only dealt for a high end winger or dman in return. We need more goal scorers and defenders.

I doubt it... Spezza's "actual dollars paid" right now is far less than his cap hit. His contract was front-loaded, and we're on the tail end of it. The "cheap" years.

Yeah I don't really see this happening. Someone on Twitter speculated that it's more likely that Murray's just seeing what he might be able to get back before they start negotiations on an extension over the summer.

More likely to be a "player isn't very good anymore, but the rest of the league may not know it yet" decision.

Not the player he once was. Substantial doubt about whether he'll ever be that guy again.

That's even worse than your (Oilers) offer for Bishop last year.
