Great news. If he can stay off the IR this year he could be a 40-50 point guy.

lol are you kidding me? if healthy all year, 70-80pts. Depends who he plays with, but expect him to see 1stPP time, as he had great chemistry with iggy.

I'm more worried about him staying healthy than scoring points. If he's playing with Iggy (which in all likelihood he is both at even strength and the PP), there's no reason for him not to rack up the points. I just hope Sutter's hit-and-grit system doesn't take its toll on Rhino early on in the season.

lol are you kidding me? 40-50pts is much more realistic IMO considering that we don't know how much these new rules will affect scoring. Yeah, if the games are 7-6 every night, I'll give him 80pts, but that isn't going to happen.

I rarely feel tempted to defend PapaBear, but in 03-04 Reinprecht was on pace for close to 70pts before the injury (and his attempt to play through the injury). Of course he was playing with Iginla in those first 25 or so games, but they really appeared to have some good chemistry. If Reinprecht can earn top-line ice-time I wouldn't put 60-70pts out of his reach -- but he'll be competing with Amonte for that top-line spot which I am sure will be a challenge for a less proven forward. If Kobasew can put it all together next season and Reinprecht lines up as the second-line centre, he still could produce very well being Kobasew's setup man.

80pts is pushing it.

a 15-20 goal, 35-40 assist season would be considered a pretty good year for Reinprecht. Depends on his linemates mostly though.....

Reinprecht should only be expect to score 50-60 points if healthy.
Consider the following table:

Years GP Points = scoring rate X 82 games played.
00-01 80 36 = 37 point scoring pace (age 25)
01-02 46 56 = 56 point scoring pace (age 26)
02-03 77 51 = 54 point scoring pace (age 27)
03-04 44 29 = 54 point scoring pace (age 28)

I'd say the evidence is fairly consistent that (under the old rules at least) that Reinprecht is a 55 points per 82 games played kind of guy. Also Reinprecht is already in the prime scoring years of his career so it is less likely that he will suddenly improve than say a guy who is just 22-24 years old. He's a solid guy, but I wouldn't get my hopes up for 82 points just yet.

agree with all of that. Flames fans really shouldn't expect more than the equivalent of 50-60 points *dunno if scoring is going to go up in general*

but I guess one counterargument might be Conroy, essentially a 35-45 pt guy , age 30....becomes a 70 point guy with Iginla

if for example Flames go with Reinprecht-Iginla, and Amonte-Langkow as separate pairings Reinprecht could go a bit higher. 80 sounds like a stretch though

Theres a small hitch though,he averaged those 55 points playing mostly 3 line and very little PP time in Colorado. One just has to look at the difference Iginla made to Craig Conroy when he moved from the Blues 3rd line to the top line in Calgary.(32 pts to 75)

My take is if Rhino doesn't perform to at least 65-70pts he won't be playing on the top line period. And havin seen the pure talent this guy has it wouldn't be a big surprize to see over 80.

I'd say Steve Reinprecht is gonna have a career year and Chuck Kobasew & Matt Lombardi too, Calgarys top two lines should be something like this...

Reinprecht - Lombardi - Iginla
Amonte - Langkow - Kobasew

Lombardi isn't going to be the number 1 centre.

This is solid, I like Rhino, I think he could score 59 points this year. You heard it hear first.
