Whitney to PHX

What would the Wizard back to PHX cost. Was talking about this today with a few other people who work for the Vancouver Sun, he seemed like an extra in Dallas but tonight he seems to be playing very well.

We were talking about something like Andy Miele + 2015 3rd (could become second) + 2014 5th

3rd would become a 2nd if Phoenix won a round in this years playoffs, how off were we? And Dallas fans is Whitney available?

If Dallas were willing to take back Moss and Klesla in order to even out the salary, I'd be willing to give up a 5th round pick for him.

Sure, we'll take both, you can keep the picks.

Moss and Klesla for Whitney?

Done; we might be able to use the extra salary space.

Extra salary space? 500kay prorated? Enough salary space to buy a lightly used 2009 Nissan Sentra?

How about throwing Rundblad in to the mix, Dallas will add a pick

Well, 500K is nothing to sniff at; helps to offset the loss of a PO series revenue a bit.

I was exaggerating, but my point is it's a prorated savings. Something like 122kay in actual dollars.

Sure. Your first rounder would probably do it. I mean, you're getting the NHL ready youngster and we're getting a big long shot in that pick.

Your 2nd? No thanks.

We could also retain part of his Whitney's salary to help ease the pain.

Retain a percentage of the 25% percent of annual salary he's still owed? Not overly enticing.

I would be a-okay with Moss and Klesla. Maybe take Aaron Rome back too?

Cool;

We are not likely to make the playoffs, saving some $$ is a very good thing right now.

And Pirri won't be dumped for garbage picks. Rundblad might not be moved this year, but if it happens you won't be getting much. See the cases of Filatov, Nikita and Grachev, Evgeny.

If his contract ends this year, and he doesn't make much; then sure.

Him being around as a potential Morris replacement is much more valuable to us than to move him for a pick in a shallow draft. He barely played at all this year due to Tippett, yet he was one of the top 3/4 players in the camp and pre-season, and had a great year in the AHL last year. There is no way we will move him for something meaningless.

And that's your team's call, but last I checked you won't get anything in return when you "trade" him to the Swedish Elite League in a year or two.

I'm not high on getting a forward back in the Whitney deal so Whitney (30% retained) for Klesla + 2nd. That way we can call up Sceviour. We'll retain 50% if you take Rome in the deal too

I'm pretty sure that, in all likelihood, the number of NHL games that 2nd round pick in 2014 is going to play over an career is going to be lower than the # of games Rundblad will play next year; considering what would be available 45 spots into the draft.

I don't disagree. But the odds only get worse as the offers get worse, which they will. Prospects have a shelf-life, and Rundblad is getting stale.

Sure;

Like I said, it's not that Rundblad is a premier asset that is a sure-fire top pairing D; far from it.

But the asset you are offering is marginal at best. 2014 is probably one of the worst drafts in recent memory, and where stars are drafting in the 2nd is highly unlikely to net anyone that can make a long NHL career at all. Considering that, Rundblad is a whole a lot more likely to be a useful NHL player in their respective careers.

Well it might help his value if you guys played him but sitting in the pressbox basically all season is killing his value and soon he's going to tell you guys trade me or I'm going back to Sweden.

Have him going back to SEL is not that much worse than getting Stars' 2nd this year (both are fairly useless, which the Stars' pick being slightly better in terms of asset management). We are perfectly willing to take that risk. Having a player that was the 3rd leading scorer in the Elitserien, as a 20 yr old D; and one that has developed well in NA as was just last year an AHL all-star; is far more valuable than getting an extra middling pick which in all likelihood would amount to exactly zilch.
