kesler hasn't officially demanded a trade, he's said that if the canucks feel the need to move him then there's a list of team's he's been open to moving to...if he isn't traded at the deadline then he continues playing the same role he had before and likely gets moved at the draft

luongo was different as he lost his starting job, asked to be traded and was promised to be moved

also, there's no guarantee that trading kesler now would tank the canucks in hopes of getting a better draft pick...calgary tried the same tactic last year by trading iginla and they actually started playing better, to the detriment of their draft position
Yea, but Monahan was a pretty sweet consolation prize for their efforts. What a beaut.

Considering what he gave up at last yrs deadline for Murray? I'd say teams get a little crazy under pressure.

So it'd be Schenn, Morin, and a 1st for Kesler and HAMHUIS << ?

Isn't the asking price for kesler a 20-25 roster player, a prospect, and a first itself?

He may not be desperate per se but quotes being thrown around that "he'll best any offer" make it seem like he'll go to great lengths to get Kesler.

He should be... Pittsburgh will have a hard time getting past Chicago, Boston, LAK, or St. Louis without Kesler, and you have a prime Sid and Malkin healthy and ready to make a push for a cup which is rare.

I'll put a few dollars on the Pens if they pull this off.

Don't think this is a viable trade but, it doesn't matter what FANS will give up. Management is the real question

Not enough scoring potential coming back to Vancouver. If Kesler and Edler are both dealt Vancouver needs at least one high impact forward in return. Couturier and Laughton are nice pieces, but neither projects to be a high scoring forward at the NHL level.

I agree with all except LAK. They can't seem to score anymore barring the trade deadline.

I think they get more selling them separate. That's an interesting offer and of PHI ups it to 2 1st's than I seriously look at that deal.

That's your example?

Look at the rate rentals were going for.

Couturier isn't going anywhere. He will not be traded. Period, end of story, especially for another center. Unless a Weber or a Karlsson somehow becomes available, it's a non starter.

Kesler coming to the Pens doesn't make it's chances much better imo. The bottom 6 is horrid. Kesler would be playing with AHL'ers if he came here Wednesday.(as 3C where he'd probably play unless he goes with Sid til Bennett gets back)

But that quote originated from Rob Rossi who has an accuracy rate on par or worse than Eklund.

Any deal that includes Kesler + Edler without a Brayden Schenn type player coming back is just unrealistic to me. We could sell both players in separate deals for packages.

I think Kesler packaged with Edler is the way to go honestly. Hammer not going anywhere I agree. Now I believe Kesler and Edler should get back Couts, Morin and Laughton and I think thats fair. Maybe Flyers throw in Mez for cap reasons as he's on a expiring contract anyway.

We can send you an entire bottom 6 with him. That's literally all we are, a bottom six, on top of another bottom 6. Plus Kesler.

And according to Dreger, he'll do everything he can to acquire Kesler. http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=445112

Whether that constitutes as "desperate", I'm not sure, but it still indicates that Shero will work hard to get something done.
