If Conacher clears it gives the team some budget flexibility - he's on a two-way.

Again, what were we going to get better?

And really? Star goalie? I'm fairly sure many more teams would have lined up if they knew he was a star!

20/20..

Yeah the team has played inconsistent but Conacher has done nothing since we acquired him.

Wouldn't be surprised if Tim Murray was the reason we acquired Conacher, now that hes gone there goes Conahcer too.

Why wouldn't you just include him in a deal if that's the case?

This.

This decision is baffling.

Wouldn't it be easier just to trade him to Buffalo?

Obviously there's not much logic going on here unless there's a deal pending that would create budget / roster space issue.

Maybe Tim doesn't think much of him either.

Conacher being waived is a ****ing joke. Its starting to look like the old sens and the country club mentality, some players are held to the strictest standards while others slide.

Hoffman is clearly better than Conacher, that's why his is happening I think.

Guarenteed someone picks up Conacher on waivers. He likely never lives up to the hype he got entering the league last year but he can and will be a serviceable NHL player when given minutes. Someone will give him a chance.

Hoffman over Conacher. Makes sense.

Still though, feels like a trade is right around the corner.

I have a funny feeling the NHL is keeping an extra close eye on any deals involving Buffalo-Ottawa. Been too many shenanigans in this league over the years, they won't want any more potential bad press or collusion type rumblings.

It's too bad for Conacher, as he has some potential. But, at the same time, we have way too many bottom 6 guys. Need to start moving some bodies sometime.

He was given a chance here. Let's not start the narrative that he wasn't given a chance.

He will clear waivers and the Sens will deal him for something tomorrow afternoon.

Why would they not just include Conacher in this hypothetical trade?

Conacher was a goal scorer who wasnt scoring. Its a shame hopefully he bounces back in the AHL.

Hoffman has shown some good things...but it's really hard to judge a guy after a couple games.

Obivously Murray tried to trade both players already! He's not just blindly waiving people.

I can't think of any reason why they would do that instead of just including him in the trade...

Conacher isn't afraid to get his nose dirty which is why I didn't mind him being in the lineup even when he wasn't scoring.

This move is really puzzling. Almost as puzzling as Erik Condra on the second line.

Conacher has been terrible.

Other than reinforcing that the Bishop deal was bad, this move does nothing but take a bad player off the active roster.

It is terrible asset management to give up on a player who is 24 in his second full season in the NHL. Especially one that has been bounced around the lineup giving very few minutes and occasionally sat.

That's it. It doesn't matter if he struggled this year loads of guys are struggling. He actually played with heart which is what this team lacks the most. You all seem to forget how good that Zibby-MM9-Con line was.
