Well it's on him to show up to play next year, but for this year he's playing fine for his salary. Next year he'll be making 2M which is probably what a player with similar performance to him this year should be being paid. Neil is making 2M and Greening is out hitting him and plays the PK which Neil does not. Plus, it's not like Neil is actually fighting this year.

Maybe they're also sending a message to Zibby?

I can see Corvo, but you couldn't even get a late pick for Conacher!!

IMO this move is to allow for a Bingo call up.

BM has indicated the prices in trade discussions were high, so this could be an indication Bryan doesn't expect a trade and has decided to go with the prospects in Bingo.

Conacher on waivers is an indication BM & PM feel there are players in Bingo that fit better with Spezza and Turris, most likely Stone and possibly one of Prince/Puempel/Schneider.
The Melnyk cap space

Cory needs time to develop a more complete game, I have been saying this all season.

The best thing for Cory is he isn't claimed and can spend a few months in the AHL developing a complete game without all the churn he has gone through.

I doubt Cory will be claimed, but if he is I wish him all the best.

Dudes, there was no way the Flyers were going to trade Couturier to us. They nixed the deal at the last minute because the Blue Jackets offered them Mason for their backup goalie and a 2015 3rd.

Thats fine and dandy, except for the part where Bishop wasn't an RFA. Due to some silly loophole he was a UFA. So it was make the best trade, or get nothing.

Should have traded Anderson while his value was sky high and kept Bishop. This is disapointing.

I love all the trolls that come out at times like this Told you so look at me I was right Seems like a very odd decision but from the start there was no fit for him in this line up, not sure why the acquired him ?. I expect him to go else where and become a solid player.

Have to think there is a deal in the works...can't see them waiving Conacher and losing him for nothing otherwise.

Didn't you recently say something like you couldn't wait until Karlsson left the Sens and wouldn't miss him when he did?

Is it safe to say the Bishop deal was bad now?

Jesus Christ if this wasn't a strategic move ship Conacher to buffalo I'm ****ing livid. He's FAR from the worst player on our roster night in and night out.

I will eat crow if he doesn't go to another team and become a very solid player

While I think Cory has skill, however he really hasn't been able to translate it at the NHL level with any consistency.

IMO Cory needed to break-in as a third line player, but there was so much churn he was bounced all over. This isn't all the fault of coaching, for the first part of t he season Cory wasn't playing the game that made him successful in the AHL.

While IMO Greening should never be near the top six, he has played quite well in his time with Smith and is definitely a better 4th line player than Conacher.

Now if stats are all that matter, Greening has outscored, out hit Conacher and plays on the PK.

So if the open role on the team is 4th line LW, Greening is the better choice now.

i stick to my principle.. Anyone is available if the trade makes our team better. This doesn't mean i hope we waive karlsson and he gets picked up and wins multiple Norris trophies.

Which is a huge problem with our team, too many players that are playing like crap, someone has to go.
