Surprisingly level-headed performance, might even think he's got some kind of attitude and work ethic. Well, talking is one thing, but I'll give him a chance to show it.

I like the move. Bryz is a decent goaltender, and love the cheap price spent to have security behind Kuemper.

Imo he was always going to be too expensive. Buffalo needs to flip him for more to get full value of the Miller trade. I think they know this, and ultimately they are screwed because of it.

That's why I was not wanting Halak, I knew the price would be too high.

Well Fletcher would know. He was in Anaheim when Bryz was there.

Yes he is, but in a good way

Bryz is money on the interviews, that 4th was decent price to pay for entertaiment purposes only

Plus team got what it needed, a decent backup goalie very cheap. Good job, me thinks

Heatley was supposed to be a drama queen as well and hasn't made a peep since coming here.

Before getting too excited...Bryz is 33 years old so I don't see him as more than a 1-3 year stop-gap. But that's really all the Wild need. Assuming he isn't going to be the starter.

No need for anything more than a backup stop gap.

Listening to Bryz YT clip, seems like his past "weird" interviews have either been edited to make him seem crazy or that he's been coached to answer in much more cliched ways (or both).

I can't imagine how hard it would be to deal a press scrum when English isn't your first language...

Outside of last year in Philly, he's been very good.

I wonder if the Wild would use the next couple months as a test for re-signing him? He's better than Backstrom (who should be bought out) and Harding seems to be done. This would give them a vet 1B or backup...
If you want to compare stats and speculate, Phoenix is closer to Minnesota than other two teams.

Have to say I'm more than happy with this. It's a high reward low risk move. Also truth (people outside Minnesota tends to forget) is, Wild makes any goalie looks better. Guys like Fernandez, Backstrom, Harding never were a THAT great prospects and highly doubt they would made even a decent career on other teams than Wild. I honestly think Bryzgalov is the most talented goalie we've ever had and people will be shocked soon.

The best part of this trade (besides the cheap price) is that if for some reason Kuemper falls off the wagon (which there has been no signs of and he has played great) we have a capable backup with playoff experience that is able to step in. I'm excited to see how he performs in our system which is more defensive minded than EDM and Philly. This is a win win for the Wild. For some reason I feel that Chucky might make some more noise before the trade deadline.

Umm...Harding was a second round pick for a reason...he was a great prospect. Only unlucky injuries kept him back from taking the job earlier. That opened the door for Backstrom back in the Fernandez end of days. Harding was on track to take over the backup position that year but injury changed everything.

Bäckström Undrafted
Harding 38th overall
Fernandez 52nd overall

Not even 1st rounders! They were not 2nd or 5th like some of the Vezina candidates of todays.

I believe Minny makes any goalie looks good.

Sorry about Harding, though luck

I don't care that they weren't first rounders. Many people believe first round picks on goaltending is a waste...myself included. Even the highest ranked goaltender I would not consider until the 2nd round.

1st round goalies are not a common sight.

I'm fine with this. Run Kuemper as starter and let Bryz battle with Backs.

Backs is in no shape to battle. We're minutes to hours away from hearing he's done for the year after this trade.

EDIT: Was minutes, Backstrom officially shutdown.

He's a pretty good goalie as far as skills go. Was great in a goalie-friendly system in PHX, so I think MN could be a good place for him. Good to have someone with starter and playoff experience aboard in case Kuemper falters.

Good player, good contract, good price. Nothing but love for this deal.

As expected

Harding and Backstrom are out for the year. Hopefully that doesn't impact their buyouts.

Thinking the same about Harding. We can't rely on him to be our starter or back up when his feelings are day-to-day.

Yeah, Backstrom's contract in particular is a concern moving forward.

EDIT: Sauna...Harding has ALREADY been shut down. He's been on IR for some time already and has not even been close to day-to-day.
