Hope they don't kick them too hard. He needs to stay healthy for one more day.

I think Hemsky would be a great fit in Phoenix

Hemsky's been healthy for quite a while with no side effects. I'd say they could kick those tires pretty hard and be safe.

He makes sense there. There is already plenty of fellow Czech players there and he would provide them some offensive depth and could revive his career and be more than just depth.

I'm assuming it'd be one of their defenseman.

Schlemko? Klesla?

I'm assuming a pick. We have a logjam of defensive prospects.

Gotta think Edmonton is going to wait for some of the bigger fish to be gone so they can raise the asking price a bit.

It could happen after tonight's game though.

I'd be all for Schlemko. No thanks to Klesla, makes no sense for us.

Any trades Phoenix makes need to be dollar-for-dollar, so Edmonton either retains salary or takes back some heavy money (Klesla, Moss, etc.)

Or maybe Phoenix wants to get it done now so the price doesn't go up any further, ha ha.

I doubt any team trades a roster player for a pending UFA. A 2nd/3rd round pick is all he will fetch IMO.

Edmonton can hold back salary, but would ask for better value for doing so. 50% retained in my opinion would move the price up from a 3rd round pick to a 2nd.

Unless you have the ability to move said roster player b/c you have 9 D on one-way contracts and the players that could be involved include:

Michael Stone: 3/4 upside so probably unlikely that he gets moved in this deal, unless Yotes take something back
David Rundblad: 3/4 upside as well, although Stone has passed him on depth chart; unlikely he gets moved unless Yotes take something back
Rostislav Klesla: buried in minors, mainly making dollar-to-dollar trade work; would have to send a 2nd with Klesla
David Schlemko: good 5/6 D with some limited 3/4 upside; friendly contract, not getting the same ice time as players like Murphy and Gormley develop

Schlemko and a 3rd seems about right...

I'd like a Schlemko+3rd sort of deal. Think that's fair, PHX has a ton of defensive depth and will want to clear out the roster spot. The pick makes up the value I think.

A third either in 2014 or in 2015 as we dont have picks in the 3rd round in either of these next two draft years if im correct.

He has more points than Eriksson this year.

Original.

Hemsky will inevitably be dealt for less than he's worth. His time is out in Edmonton, and who can blame him for being half way out the door? He'd re-signed committed to seeing some change come through in Edmonton, and they flopped again. He's seen too much losing. Needs a change of scenery.

But his skill base will pay off for whomever gets him. Brilliant with the puck, shoots too little, but will be a great addition to anyone else's top 6.

Probably one of the best moves for the Yotes, if they can make the money work and see if he'd be worth an extension. They should have made a move for him back in late November around the time they waived Klesla.

If MacT can turn Hemsky into Michael Stone, then my confidence in him will be solidified. More likely its Klesla as a cap dump, and a 3rd round pick.

I like the Schlemko and a third offer. I wouldn't even mind Klesla since it works out salary wise but would want a 2nd round pick instead of a third.

As an Oilers fan I would be happy with any of:

3rd + Moss 2nd if the Oilers retain 50%
3rd + Brown 2nd if the oilers retain 50%
2nd + Klesla
3rd + Stone for Hemsky @ 50%
