I'm glad you think Streit is worth that contract. No one was talking up Donovan. DeHaan has been the Isles best defenseman. Amac is nothing special but the Flyers got him for a good deal. Maybe Snow was doing him a favor trading him to play with Streit anyways. I'm happy with the return and it gives the young guyssome looks.

He was expendable. We've got Donovan who can come in and play a similar two way game with hopefully less turnovers. Good trade for both teams.

Rarely have I seen such disagreement on value.

Yep. This is why he blocks so many shots.

Very happy the Flyers signed him. Was hoping he ended up in LA, but my second favorite team will do.

Not a huge fan of the price, after seeing Robidas go for a 4th, but can't complain. Flyers really needed the help.

That's right on the "not sure if serious" line. Either you've mastered the art of sarcasm and threw in that last phrase to throw people off the scent or you're out of your mind. I can't tell what I'm looking at here.

For those who haven't watched the Islanders, Matt Donovan hasn't been able to handle 15 minutes a game yet without being a dumpster fire.

Not sure what you are talking about. Most Islander fans expected a late first, or a 2nd and something else. Got exactly what we expected.

Flyer fans seem to feel like they paid a tad too much, but are mostly satisfied with the deal.

Seems like everybody got pretty much what they wanted and expected.

Yes. He loved playing for the Isles. He wanted to resign, and would have if the Isles were willing to fork out the dollars.

And, frankly, its sorts of arrogant and pretty ridiculous to think that AMac is going to sign for something 1.5 million less than market value to play in Philly. For all you know, he may have not interest in living there.

I do think he'd resign in Philly - but at market value.

I'll predict about 5 million per year, as he wanted from the Isles.

I think the 3.75 million number tossed about above is grossly unrealistic.

Yeah, his season has been a disaster. He's been as bad as MacDonald. The difference is MacDonald was thrust into 26 min toi with Hamonic and Lubo injured while Donovan simply couldn't handle what was expected (15 min, specialist on the pp).

Wish Andrew well and he'll get a deserved pay raise, but 4m plus for 5 years is too much. Unlike a lot of Isles fans I would've liked it if he signed 4/16. Wouldn't be a bargain but it would definitely fill out a top 4.

Only on HfBoards are non 1st round picks considered gold. Sorry but I don't find trading two draft picks outside of round one for a player who will impact the current team's playoff hopes to be an overpayment.

This. I guess its only a good deal if they got him for a 4th-7th rounder... A late 2nd and a 3rd for a decent dman is great IMO.

W ith Philly missing the playoff last year and currently in now, it was a smart deal to do.

MacDonald was ranked as the top dman available this deadline who is a UFA. But in no way do I offer him 5 mill per year.

given the Islanders traded their 2nd rounder to Buffalo in 2015, it's nice having a 2nd rounder in 2015(I was actually hoping between the Vanek and MacDonald deals they could recoop 2 picks in the 2015 draft)

To be perfectly honest I much rather have Philly's 2015 second rounder then a 2014 first that is 20+

Not a bad trade for Philly, but I'm surprised that the Isles got a 2nd for someone making league minimum.

His salary is one thing that made him so attractive. He was ranked the best UFA dman available and 5th best player available. To not give up a 1st for him is good for Philly. And for NYI, it isn't a 1st but it is 2 picks....good deal for them too.
