Luke Schenn to Boston could be a potential high risk/high reward type of deal.

Remember how Ference went from solid top 4 dman in Boston to top 6 in Edmonton? I have a feeling Boston's system will bring out the best of Schenn.

Schenn is more fit for the West imo.

I doubt the Flyers would trade JVR for him however, and then two years later trade him back to the same team at a much reduced rate.
Exactly. Young, stay at home, right handed defensemen is exactly what the Leafs need but because Schenn's value is so low compared to when he was traded away I just can't imagine Holmgren trading him back to the Leafs at his current value.

He's good whenever he's paired with Gustafsson, but the Flyers prefer to bench Gus for inferior players. Developing dmen isn't a thing the Flyers "do."

The forwards out West can skate too, though.

yeah but alot more teams play a better style for him like LA. He'd be a perfect fit thier with thier physical, collapsing mentality on defense.

I'd offer Philly a choice between:

Franson or Finn or Biggs

Philly could have kept their third this year and just sent us Schenn along with next years second.

Schenn isn't a bad player. He was very good playing with Timonen last year and even when he was forced to play with guys like Oliver Lauridsen he was still impressive. This season when he's been paired with Gustafsson they've been very good together. But when you make him play with guys like Streit, Meszaros, or Grossmann he doesn't do well.

He doesn't have negative value at all, but if the Flyers deal him they aren't going to get a good return and it would be stupid.

He could end up being a moderate upgrade over Guenin/Sarich on the third pairing.

I'd probably give up a 4th for him.
