Lol yeah...
Actually I don't think it was thought of as the "perfect location". It was a matter of opportunity.
The arena negociations is tough.
And as Mario said, the Penguins are UFA in 2007. They fully expect to get a new arena and stay in Pittsburgh, but if not...
FOTS has made a career here on these boards bashing Mario, no matter what he does...
The intelligent Pittsburgh fan knows that the only reason they still enjoy nhl hockey is because of Mario.
If he's paying himself market value, what's wrong with that? He's worth that to the NHL alone...
If he's costing the Pens wins right now because of his high salary, he's also creating a better chance for the Pens to draft Ovechkin and Crosby over the next couple years...and by 2007 this could be one of the most attractive franchises to purchase...maybe even the leafs will buy them and move them to the Gardens...then they'd have a shot at a cup in the near future...
FOTS when are you gonna relaize you cant question the almighty Mario.
If the other owners want to give him a raise, from 200k to 2.25 million he cant turn it down
If the NHLPA tells him he has to make 5.25 million, he cant turn them down
If the other owners want to give Mario another 2.5 million in deferred compensation, he has cant turn it down
He has no choices in these matter's. He's doing whats best to save the Penguins.
(and if you beleive that, i got a bridge in Brooklyn up for sale)
