Confirming Martin St-Louis is traded to the Rangers for Ryan Callahan. #lightning #tvasports
If it's a straight up trade, that's larceny for Sather. SFY got put in a tough spot because MSL wanted out and would only waive for one place. Yzerman either had to keep a disgruntled captain or have no bargaining power in trade discussions.

All respect for MSL is gone.

I still feel this Rundblad move could be a sign that Bowman and co are really looking at making a move for Kesler. If it costs and Oduya or Leddy in a package deal to get Kesler then Rundblad is a logical choice to jump in right away and help.

Bowman doesn't make moves like that (trading away a high pick) for nothing...I think he is possibly looking at making a splash as long as he can send enough salary the other way. Maybe Leddy/Oduya - Bickell -prospect (McNeill/Morin) for Kesler??

I mean if you think about it...Callahan is 2 million dollars a year better than Bickell.

I can't believe I ever "liked" that contract.

As @TSNBobMcKenzie first reported, and I've been told same, St. Louis has been traded to the Rangers for Callahan and picks
Luckily for Tampa Bay fans, picks are involved.

He has 11 points in 50 games. Similar to Regin. Stan would be dumpster diving yet again if he picks him up.

Hopefully some big picks.

But it guts their Cup chances, so doubt many down there will be very happy with the returns.

I don't think Kesler even gets traded to be quite honest.

But your point on Kesler is logical. If it costs the Hawks Leddy and Shaw in a package, Rundblad and Malholtra would be replacements, although definite downgrades. They would be total downgrades to immensely improve your top-six.

In my opinion, Kesler stays, and Bowman is inquiring about adding competition to the lineup.

Essentially, if I was gm, I just might. The Canucks would have to retain some salary and other people would have to be included from both sides probably to make the cap/value work. I'm not bowman though, and that's a good thing at this point. I just want the hawks to shake it up with a big move but that's impossible.

1st and 2nd make it more palatable, but still would be in a grumpy mood if I were a Bolts fan.

... oh, wait... The first is a 2015? Now that's critical, as that's looking to be a ridiculously deep draft.

Bad trade for this season. But they got a 1st and 2nd. So good for them.

Sather is one of the worst general managers in the league. He's right there with Burke, Poile, etc. Holy hell. SFY had zero bargaining power and got a 1st and a 2nd on top of a pretty good rental. Callahan can't replace MSL's offensive production, but those are two great picks acquired for a 38-year-old.

I didn't even think to check. I figured all of us would be smart and look at our Twitter feeds to make sure the account was legit.

Damnit. Might still be the one-for-one deal Renaud Lavoie was reporting.

THN confirms picks are a 2014 2nd and a 2015 1st.

That 1st is potentially huge.

The Rangers got a top ten winger for a good second line winger they couldn't sign and two picks. Love this for the Rangers.

I felt like that when news of the Hawks pursuing Kesler stopped breaking. Now apparently it's Pittsburgh who is the main player. I feel like it's just Shero trying to buy everyone and Kesler probably won't go anywhere at the deadline.
