Honestly, with our stack of physical prospect defenseman with 4-6 potential (Parayko, Edmundson, Hakanpaa, Lindbohm...and I think Parayko could even have 3-4 potential), then with Schmaltz/Vannelli having 3-4 potential as puck-moving d-men, I wouldn't be surprised to see the Blues use their 33rd, 52nd, and 82nd picks to move up into the first round, say, late teens or early 20's, to grab another player they like. Perhaps they go for someone like Scherbak, Goldobin, or Tuch. Who knows.

I swear to god if we draft another puck-moving RHD, I'm going to give up on this organization.

Hey, you might be happy we drafted Schmaltz when we trade Shattenkirk

I'm good with Schmaltz. I can understand Vannelli, but a 3rd would be idiotic.

That, or if we don't draft a single center.

Unless we trade Schmaltz in a Rundblad-Tarasenko like swap.

If there is one silver lining in not making it to the WCF, it's that we get to keep our 2014 1st round pick. If Army does re-sign Miller(vomit), hopefully he is smart enough to wait til after the draft to announce it.

This is going to be a huge draft since we won't have a 1st round pick in 2015.

I'm with everyone else in not wanting another RH d-man and hoping that a center is the BPA.

At this point, we might as well prepare for the inevitable, who are the puck-moving RHD that could be available when we are picking. Lets start to do our homework on them.

Josh Jacobs - USHL, RHD, 6'2, 193 lbs - 46 GP, 5 goals, 15 assists
Roland McKeown, OHL, RHD, 6'1, 186 lbs - 61 GP, 11 goals, 32 assists
Julius Bergman, SWE, RHD, 6'1, 187 lbs. - 27 GP, 8 goals, 12 assists

But don't worry, there are plenty of LHD options as well!!!

Hmm, I guess Roland is a pretty unique first name, we'll probably get him.

Imagine if Edmonton could have been convinced into sending in their 1st for Perron. Bet they didn't expect to finish this terribly.

Adding Bennet/Reinhart to the future of this team would be unreal. Also when I'm saying that, obviously Blues would have added some futures to get that 1st. Unlikely scenario but just something I was thinking of the other day.

I'd put my money on Jacobs. We seem to favor Americans.

Ugh, that's depressing to think about.

Two centers with 22/33 please.

What's the scouting report on Hawryluk and Schmaltz? Answers to our prayers or what?

Josh Ho-Sang could be a steal at 22 as well.

32/53 this season in 67 games, listed as a C/RW. Will miss the first 15 games of 2014-2015 due to a suspension for an illegal hit from behind

I swear to god, if we take another defenseman in the first round I'm going to drive to wherever the draft is and kick both Armstrongs in the face. If Schmaltz is on the board in the early 20s, we should try to move up and make sure we get him.

That hit from behind was worth a 2 minute minor. The resulting suspension was the byproduct of insanity.

I'll be beyond pissed if they pass on Bleackley for another d-man. He can be a very explosive skater when he's on his game.

Just watched the video, it's insane that he received any length of suspension.

You could even make a case that it didn't merit any penalty at all.

Is there really any chance Schmaltz is even available? I see him as a riser...Like maybe top 15. A guy with that kind of hockey sense doesn't usually last.

Every mock I've seen has him in the 20s. He very likely could be this year's Hertl who was the same as Schmaltz in mocks and ended up at 17. There are a bunch of other good options around where we'll be picking.

With Edmonton's 2nd, I'd like to see us move up to get the best possible center though. Ideally Schmaltz falls to us, but we would have to get pretty lucky IMO.

It's sounding like Armstrong may want to re-sign Miller, and if he does that (signed before the draft), we no longer have that 22nd pick, and there goes our chances of picking Schmaltz. We would have to package the 33rd and Minnesota's 2nd (or our 2nd) to get back to 22-25, which is possible...but one less pick in our cupboard.
