Boston - LA

A fun proposal that probably won't ever happen but...
...to our yellow and black brothers from another mother:

I heard you like wingers?

To Boston: Tyler Toffoli

To Los Angeles: Dougie Hamilton

What do you think? TT is playing in the NHL right now and played well last playoffs too in the games he was in including scoring a couple goals so although he's a bit earlier in development than DH, I believe he is ready. LA is certainly going to use him in the playoffs in the everyday lineup.

Flame away.

Neutral fan here, that's not even close for Hamilton.

Sorry but not even remotely close. Hamilton is a 20 year old top four defenseman who the Bruins need to replace Chara one day. Toffoli is good but not near enough for there to be anything there.

I saw another Boston fan offering Hamilton for what I thought was junk and then 4 other people asking if he's fallen off or something so I offered our "untouchable" winger when I see Boston in on Vanek.

Ok cool, had to try. I hadn't heard anything about Hamilton for a while plus the above so I figured to make an offer.

Maybe it should have been a Value Of: proposal.

I wouldn't say really, although Boston has absolutely 0 reason to trade Hamilton Toffoli+Forbort is more than a fair gamble.

No thanks. Don't want to trade Toffoli and Hamilton is not what the Kings needs (LHD). I certainly don't want to make a huge offer for him.

I agree and that's why I made the offer but the reason why I made it in the first place is because another Boston fan in another thread made it sound like Hamilton's value has gone down for some reason...by a lot.

Hamilton's value is actually as high as it has ever been. Kid has been a complete monster.

What does Boston need? What do you have excess of? What would Eriksson cost?

Yeah I thought it was strange...another Kings poster above said we really need LHD...reason being Doughty and Voynov are both RHD but with Hamilton, I'm like you can't have too much of something that good!

Ok my bad. My impression of Hamilton is very good and that he's very young. I wanted a player who had been developed by a team that plays like us and groom him to be something special if he for some reason stumbled hard in Boston. Sounds like that other guy just valued wrong.

(and thanks for your candor)

Uhhhhh....

Why did I even say "uh"? That implies i thought about it. No.

Hamilton has taken a HUGE step this year. It would be insanely hard to get him.

Boston needs a rental winger and a #2 defenseman.

Eriksson would cost a #2/3 defenseman. Think Edler.

Hamilton probably has more market value than TT but LA doesnt really need another RHD like other people have said. Dont think either team would do it

Considering the Bruins need for more top-four defensive talent (not less) and their abundance of capable top-six-calibre forwards.... this is pretty much a non-starter from Boston's perspective.

Couple that with Hamilton's (very, very) impressive development this season into a fringe top-pairing blueliner at age 20.... I really don't think Chiarelli considers the OP's offer for very long.

That's not to say Toffoli isn't a very intriguing young talent with nice upside, but in my opinion the value isn't there and it really doesn't come close to meeting Boston's needs. For the Bruins to consider moving Hamilton, it would take a better veteran defenseman coming back (read: definitively top-pairing) or such lopsided value as to send the B's GM skipping gleefully to fax the deal to the league head office.
