Brendan Witt

I pulled this from someone elses post on another thread

http://washingtontimes.com/sports/20...5533-9195r.htm

Looks like there are three Canadian teams in the running to get Witt. Wonder if the Flames are one? Not sure where he would fit in, however maybe moving him for Lydman may be the answer. He is 29 and a bit older than Lydman, but it's worth it. He is a punisher on defense and he would add even more toughness to the defense. Get him out of Washington and into a real hockey city and he will do awesome.

Calgary does not need to mess with its defense. Vancouver, Montreal and Toronto are assuredly the three Canadian teams interested.

No way I do a Lydman for Witt deal right now. The only thing Witt has on Lydman is his hitting. Lydman is better offensively, skating, passing and a better puck mover. The Flames have enough grit on the back with Warrener, Regehr, Phaneuf.

I am quite confident that the Oilers are one of the three teams interested

Yes, I agree. They need to solidfy their top 4. Don't get me wrong, a guy like Bergeron or Semenov has potential but they aren't quite "there" yet.

Witt is the missing piece in Montreal... our D is lagging behind a lot of teams. I wonder what Washington are asking for in exchange.

Vancouver's D is seriously lacking. We need Witt way more than you guys do.
