ugh I hate doing taxes. This year pissed me off. I picked up a part time job because I thought I was going to be laid off. My part time job didn't take out federal taxes because I only made 6k there but added on to my other job it should have been taxed significantly. So now I owe 500 to federal. It's not unfair or anything, just hard to predict and now I'm pissed

How was this? The strong reviews have me intrigued, but Moonrise Kingdom had great reviews as well and I wasn't a fan of that at all. I absolutely love The Royal Tenenbaums and The Fantastic Mr. Fox. His other work stuff though ... not so much.

I'm a massive Wes Anderson fan, he's my favorite currently active director out there and his aesthetic and story-telling appeals to me greatly...so...I loved it.

But I also loved Moonrise Kingdom, which made a very real push on becoming my favorite of his films. I still think The Royal Tenenbaums is the high water mark, but I don't think The Grand Budapest Hotel is too far below it. One thing is for sure, it is unabashedly Wes Anderson. There are characters that are intentionally one-dimensional, the camera zooms, the color schemes, the fantastical setting, the cast of regulars almost all making cameos, and so on...the biggest things that separate this from the previous ones is this is a little more vulgar/violent than his previous films (though done to comedic effect) and his standard use of Futura was ditched for a new custom font (as it was with Moonrise Kingdom, but Futura showed it's head within the film multiple times).

It's well worth seeing in theaters in my opinion, especially because of the aspect ratio(s).

I gotcha. Like you mentioned, his directorial trademarks are prevalent in every frame of his movies, which is pretty much love it or hate it. I think that his visual style is definitely fun to look at but the last few movies he's done just didn't connect with me. I'll probably check it out at some point though.

No way I was going to wear a suit, especially if my plan is to walk to CONSOL from Station Square. Dress pants, dress shirt, a tie, and some Chuck Taylors should be fine.

The Royal Tenenbaums is probably my favorite, but Bill Murray in Rushmore might be the best character ever in a movie. I did like Moonrise Kingdom too. I like all of his movies.

The Life Aquatic is one of my favorite movies of all time. Rushmore is up there as well.

I love The Life Aquatic, that one seems to have the biggest love/hate split of his career.

Yeah they were awesome. That was the coolest opening to a show I've ever seen.

It kills me that they're somehow not playing in LA on this tour...I guess they're counting Coachella as their LA gig. ********.

Still haven't seen them live. Glad you guys enjoyed them.
