Also I'm sure he had influence in the locker room as a captain.

St. Louis makes the offense more dynamic but that's all they will get.
AV plays a fast paced game. St. Louis will be a good fit there i think.

going to be interesting to see how teams respond to this

Callahan could be flipped today, per McKenzie.

Hate to say it but the infamous hockeyinsider twitter account from last year has been first to tweet out these deals so far today. They must have a lot of the same contacts because same info coming from him then a lot of major outlets, but he's been on it today.

This makes the most sense, doesn't it? Callahan's contract demands seem way too high for what he's worth. TB would be forced to give him what he wants or they trade St. Louis for 2 picks

He didn't say that really. He said that it's something Yzerman could consider but McKenzie has no reason to believe that he will.

Conditional pick goes back to NY if Callahan signs in Tampa.

Which is why I said "could" instead of "will."

Taking everything he said into account, it does not appear that Callahan figures in Tampa's long-term plans at this point. He's either a short rental and then UFA or he's flipped today.

Didn't Ray Didinger say that the Flyers should move both them on the radio prior to it actually happening?

If that's the case than expect Mez to get the boot.

More details: the 2nd-rounder in 2014 to Tampa becomes a 1st if NYR gets to conf final; if Callahan re-signs in TB (con'td)
then NYR get TB 2nd in 2015 and TB gets Rangers 7th in 2015

I don't wanna give away the assets it would take but Read-Coots-Callahan would be amazing.

tbh, I'd rather move Grossmann knowing that Mez will be gone this summer regardless

I know St. Louis was adamant about going to the rangers but why didn't the flyers get involved at all since they had the Lecavalier connection...would think St. Louis would have at least considered it since it is closer to his Greenwich home and he'd be playing for a contender with Lecavalier

I would agree. Not sure how many teams would have a real interest in Grossmann though.

the thing is Grossmann can be really good, but this season has been a disaster. Would not surprise me if he's battling an injury. If we keep him, I hope he's good to go next year

Now that you mention it I remember something like that. I don't remember if he was commenting on it after the fact though.

I know Flyers need a legit sniper instead of another grinder/mucker a la Hartnell/Simmonds but this is exactly what I thought, too.
