The first player of note in Edmonton to leave. Should be interesting to see how that player performs once they're off that miserable failure of a team.

He might want to resign here and if we can do it for cheap, I wouldn't mind this deal. He'd be a great guy to put somewhere in the line up, even if he can't be top 6. We can't really be mad at the return. It was 2 pickis that werent' really high at all, so I'm fine with that.

I really wished Edmonton took greening away from us for Hemsky.

Wonder how much ball-busting will be done tonight (if he plays, which he should) by the Sens...

If we see plays like he made last night walking around our defense, I'll be thrilled with the deal. A 3rd + 5th is nothing.

Well, I am now a Senators fan for the rest of this season at least. I think you guys will come around on Hemsky, he's really an electrifying player and should be motivated for the playoff drive. He seems to have lost a little bit of his touch, but some of his passes will leave you shaking your head.

He's someone we've eyed for a long time. You have to think Murray is going to try and extend him before July 1st.
If he's extended then it was a good deal. He's a top 6 guy and will last longer than Michalek will.

But only if.

I like it, worth the gamble. Hopefully playing with Spezza and the change of scenery does him good

You're all about the future or something..

A 3rd and a 5th is not gonna destroy this franchise. Hemsky is a clear upgrade and could be a solid winger for Spezza. We're on the bubble to make the playoffs and so far Columbus, Detroit, Toronto, New Jersey haven't done anything yet. We have improved from Conacher to Hemsky.

Our chances, theoretically, should be better to make the playoffs.

Doing nothing and keeping status quo will just leave players no renewed hope to push hard for the playoffs. Just be a fan and wait and see. Criticize when we don't make the playoffs.

Hemsky would be the perfect winger alongside MacArthur and Turris.

Michalek - Spezza - Ryan
MacArthur - Turris - Hemsky
Hoffman - Zibanejad - Condra
Greening - Smith - Neil

Not bad.

Yuck. A one dimensional guy who has a history of injury problems and isn't exactly setting the world on fire this season.

Good value. I just hope Hemsky can mesh with Spezza and do so quickly because the team needs to get on a run immediately.

One thing I really like about Hemsky is that he adds more speed and skill to our lineup. He loves to shoot down the right wall and cut to the net. That fits in a lot with the way the Sens play and stretch the ice.

Soft, injury prone and inconsistent, exactly what we need. Bryan Murray is a ****** GM. If this is all he does we should ****ing can him.

And Murray has so far still managed to keep all our prospects in Bingo.

This team has absolutely no need of 3rd and 4th round picks at this time. Great trade by Murray.

Phillips getting paid less than average league salary....given everything about Phillips, he's better than any veteran Dman they could have picked up to fill the veteran dman spot on the roster.

I just have to keep reminding myself that the posters around here represent less than 1% of Sens fans everywhere.

That is a very soft and injury prone lineup. Also we don't make the playoffs with that lineup either.

We got more skill. If Detroit made this trade we would all be super jealous. We barely gave up anything of substance, and we try him out and see if he fits. If not, we let him walk.

Oh no doubt he will be in the top 6, but with Malcean's line juggling you never know. We now have basically swapped Conacher for Hemksy and I can see Hemsky being a better fit. He can play on the 1st, 2nd or 3rd line and be a better fit probably.
