I don't get these inconsistency issue questions around Fasching.

I watch a lot of Big Ten hockey and saw all his games at the World Junior's. What he is, is consistently one of the best players on the ice.
I don't care that he got drafted in the 4th round. Where would he be drafted now? A lot, lot higher.

They come from the fact that he was useless last season.

Quite honestly your analysis on a lot of guys in 2013 hasn't looked great since then.

Hopefully they're 2014 seconds, and not the Sabres's own glorified 1st rounder...

Hi guys,

Let me break down the players for you, as I cover the Manchester Monarchs.

First off, Fasching (college player so I haven't seen as much but I do know a LOT about him), is a true power forward. Could stand to get stronger but still a big boy. Goes to the net hard. North-south game. Was a 4th round pick. This is just Dean maximizing his assets.

Nick (he prefers Nick, NOT Nic as most spell it) is a converted defenseman. He hits HARD, has a cannon of a shot, laser of a wrister, will fight, can man the point on the PP, and is fast. On top of being fast, he's a TANK. Guy is just ****ing huge. Weaknesses really is his defensive side. Still gets lost a lot in the defensive zone. Also at times inconsistent.

Still though, you just got two GREAT prospect. Nick's wife is pregnant, so best of luck to them in the move.

It was pretty much consensus that he sucked last year.

I have not really watched him this year, just saying the inconsistency knocks are not unfounded.

Hudson is like Possler, only he has had an even better season than Possler had before his injury.

This kid is for real. Loved him at the WJC's and his story makes me want to see him succeed.

He is a natural athlete which is what I love about him.

He has Brent Burns upside. I'm calling it now he will play in the NHL.

I assume we gave LA their 2nd's back. It's getting clear that Murray hates this draft class beyond the 1st round. He's tied up the MIN 2nd and BUF 3rd in the Miller/Ott trade, and he probably just traded away LAK's 2014 2nd (and their 2015 2nd will probably be late, too).

I agree and generally I agree with everything you say in regards to prospects since you watch many, many more of them than I do. But a few of the guys you weren't high on in 2013 have looked much better this year and that's the name of the game when it comes to scouting. Players change especially young ones. I think this deal is about fair value. I'm not a fan that one of the 2nds is likely 2015 but oh well.

Seems like we overpaid for a guy who just went in the 4th, but obviously Tim wanted him so I am not upset at all.

I'm sure we will re-acquire another 2nd or two before the day is over. Love this.

This is the key. Disliking the trade based on what we gave up in light of where the kid was drafted (4th round) is ridiculous if you have seen him play this year. I've seen him up close and in person on numerous occasions and he's made life miserable. He still has to develop, but that's a given with a prospect. Sure he could regress, but this is an excellent score IMO. As someone mentioned, if you ID a kid you like, this is why you hoard those draft picks.

I don't know anything about these prospects. But trading multiple "assets" for an upgraded "asset" or an "asset" of need is exactly the type of deal I wanted.

Still hoping a couple vets get dumped.

wow, just looking at the deal.

Now that how you use your draft picks as assets!

Hudson Fasching and Nicolas Deslauriers!

Both of those guys provide us something we need, skill and skating up front.

Is there anything about Hudson Fasching you can't like? The kids is 100% character, I was hoping we'd draft him last year. and I never felt McNabb would be anything more than a 5/6 defensmen at best.

Great Trade Tim!

Huh? Historically maybe, but I don't get how you can have this opinion if you haven't seen him at all this year. He's what...18? Kids at that age develop significantly from month to month, week to week even during the season. He's been dominant in the numerous times I've seen him in person.

you make rebuilding sound like every pick needs to be collage kid prospects that we won't see for another 3 years. How about getting assets that help us NOW to begin the rebuild process faster.

Sometimes I think you guys want the long agonizing 100+ draft picks and unproven talent rather than some PROVEN talent.
