Given the low pricing in this year's trade deadline, 2 2nds seems like an awfully high price to pay for a non-bluechip prospect.

I know practically nothing about Fasching, but he must be one of hell of a prospect for the Buffalo Sabres to target and overpay for his rights like this.

Fasching will be a David Backes clone if he simply continues his development curve, possibly better at his ceiling.

Senses of humor come in handy, I highly recommend you look into getting one.

P.S. the posts you are referring to aren't from MN fans.

It is a good hockey trade.

Fasching is a SOLID prospect and the kind of kid you want to succeed. Still, for the Kings on the Right side, there are some long term players that are ahead of him. Toffoli, Brown, Carter, Zykof are in for the next 5 years or so. At the same time, players like Mitchell and Green are moving on.

McNabb has a better shot of making the NHL in LA and Fasching has a better shot in Buffalo within the next three seasons.

Good trade for both players and both organizations.

agreed but tough to judge this trade today ...need to look down the road in 1, 2, 3 years.

Almost certainly, if he was in the 2014 draft, he'd be in the mid-first round. In a 2013 redraft, he'd be on the cusp of the first, or taken early in the 2nd. Was the best USA player not named "Jack Eichel" at the 2013 WJC and both will be there next year as well.

This certainly will be an interesting trade to judge 5-7 years from now. Let's set our calendars for a thread bump, shall we?

Yes correct. Hudson case is atypical. He didn't grow up dreaming of NHL and Stanley Cup, he is an athlete who happen to excel at hockey. Certainly he doesn't need the money and he is very dedicated to his family. He could have gone play junior but he stayed in Minnesota. LA would not be an attractive location for him. Buffalo would be closer

But if he keep improving and become one of the best in College, I'm afraid he could go Justin Schultz route.

If he goes Buffalo route I see:
2014-15: U. Minnesta
2015-16: AHL
2016-17: NHL/AHL
2017-18: NHL

If he goes UFA and Wilds route:
2014-15: U. Minnesta
2015-16: U. Minnesta
2016-17: U. Minnesta
2017-18: NHL Minnesta (best Wilds can promise him is for him to stay up)

Well, anyways its a scenario. No need to stress out if you are Buffalo fan (or get excited if you are Wilds fan)

He won't. He's too good of a kid to bone over a professional organization.
