Sabres get robbed. 2 2nd round picks and McNabb who is arguably equally valued to Fasching at this point.

Lots of things have happened since that draft.

Fasching would go way earlier if it was done again.

I like Fashing a lot as a prospect.

But that's a steep price.

Deslauriers is anything but a throw in. He is a stud with size who can skate fight and play both as a forward and a Dman. I hate seeing him go. He is a year away but just going to be a gamer. I would say his ceiling if everything goes great would be a power forward 3rd line F who can play 2nd line minutes. Great pick up for Buff but the price is more than fair.

EDIT: guys, only 35% of all second rounders endup having a successful career in the NHL (1995-2009) 15years please stop over valuing draft picks! unless a top 10, worth taking the gamble on

Buffalo just got two more really, really good prospects. We got a Martinez(?) replacement (ugh) and some picks back. Maybe we're dealing a d-man for Gaborik after all.
Or maybe Muzzin is on the way out via trade?

Hudson Fasching is overrated IMO..

Think Kings fleeced Buffalo here and this is coming from a Ducks fan.

Fasching and Nic Des are two very solid prospects for LA. But that's a solid return.

I know nothing about this Hudson Fasching kid, but the pair of seconds seems high.

I guess the theory is the team that gets the best player wins the trade(not saying Fasching is the best player, but if he progresses in the NHL like he did in College he might end up that way)

As others pointed out if the 2013 draft was redone he probably would be a late first/early second

Someone on the Sabres board said it's essentially: Regehr + McKnabb for Deslaurier + Fasching

I wonder if those two 2nds were the ones the Kings gave up for Regehr or they'd be slightly higher 2nds...

If they are 2014 2nds who cares if Buffalo really wanted Fasching.

Let's not pretend McNabb ever had a chance to play in Buffalo.... The guy is pretty much a bust. If anyone is a throw in its McNabb.

The Kings turned 3rd round draft pick in 2008 (Deslauriers*)+4th round draft pick in 2013(Fasching) into two 2nd rounders+McNabb.

Say what you want but Lombardi (and the scouting staff with Futta and Yanneti) is great at drafting.

Which 2 2nd round picks though?
Did they give up their own, or just the other 2?
