2nd round pick and more forward depth. This feels like we are deadline "Sellers", but we are retaining salary

We are a worse team right now than we were an hour ago.

At least we don't have to re-sign Frattin (RFA)
So, you would rather trade for a guy that LA won't even play even though LA thought they needed enough help on defense that they traded for McNabb?

I don't dislike Gaborik, but he doesn't fit this team and we don't need him.
You do realize we are currently not in playoff position right? We've been on the outside looking in for quite awhile? I don't see why everyone's acting like being in a dogfight for the last wild card spot is somehow constitutes being in a great position without Gaborik. If anything, a healthy Gaborik down the stretch could of helped us get over that hump.

The Kings aquired Frattin over the summer, he did nothing for them this year and nothing for the Leafs last year. Another ham-and-egg 4th liner added to a team that already has Comeau, Boll, Tropp, D-Mac, Skille, Letstu...we could roll 3 legit fourth lines right now.

Gaborik>then Frattin no matter how you slice it. Even at Gaboriks worse he double the point production in almost half the games. If you dont get a better offer then freakin Frattin, you dont do the trade

So essentially... we traded Brassard, Moore, Dorsett and Gaborik for Matt Frattin and a few picks?

Oh yeah we did moved up last night after we won that game with Gaborik having an assist on an Anisimov goal, who he has great chemistry with...

Look at Anisimov's goals amount with and without Gaborik on his wing too.

I'm not too adverse to the deal. He cleared cap space and picked up some assets that can be used later today or in the offseason. I still think we somehow see a package deal to get a forward and defenseman. I don't know why, but we'll see what happens.

You call what Frattin was doing playing?

I have no problem trading Gabby. I just wanted something that might actually help us with a push and next year. I see this as an RFA we'll let slide and a 2nd so basically a 2nd. And that just for all the favor we did of retaining that much salary - why?

I am not unhappy nor happy so I guess that means its an ok trade?
Has anyone confirmed we ARE keeping salary yet? I hear Frattin and 2 picks but nothing on if we did go on salary.

All that matters is winning. Gaborik wasn't going to be here next year. So, if Anisimov can only play with Gaborik, then he should be traded too. Not a smart reason to keep Gaborik.

Do you honestly think Matt Frattin is better than Marian Gaborik.

Just waiting to see if there is a follow up deal.

Then I'll ***** and moan. As of now, our talent level is worse, but our asset level and cap space went up. More flexible in trade options.

You guys are still looking at 40 goal gaborik. When healthy, he's barely a 30 goal scorer it looks like right now. I'm not huge on this trade if it isn't a precursor to another, but maybe the guys will stop referring to him for offense. He isn't a fit with the scheme, but he's a good player. Wish him well, but were arguably better without him.

Winning? Anisimov just scored 3 game winning goals in 3 games in a row playing with Gaborik.
