A lot of people making garbage up in this thread. I've never seen a single Flyers fan ask for a 1st for Mez.

For Boston fans: Good luck. Mez will score a goal, and then more often than not be directly responsible for two goals against.

He was injured for most ofthe last 2 seasons so NOBODY thought we could even trade him let alone get a 1st for him. Maybe at the start of this year, when he was finally healthy a few may have WANTED a 1st but I highly doubt many actually thought we could get that much.

Cause he is smart. Mez is not an upgrade to any defensive core in the NHL, expect maybe Edmonton. He is a good #7, who can chip in offensively.

Homer says draft pick could be higher in Mez trade. Conditions on pick. Flyers may also get an added pick.

I know everyone complained about him in Philly, but he contributed a fair amount of offense and could be very good paired with someone like Chara.

Mez will give you guys some punch on offense. Hopefully you pair him with someone that can protect him though. Not a bad pickup considering the price.

Sam Carchidi @BroadStBull
Homer can't reveal the conditions on the draft pick(s) Flyers got for Mez until he has conference call with NHL tonight.

Great deal for both sides. Bruins get a solid defenceman for the playoffs, Philly gets some much needed cap space.

We didn't need it actually. Trade leaves us with over $6M that Holmgren didn't get to burn - and I promise you that will keep him up every night until he gets a chance to blow it.

First we have a real goalie that will cover up those , and second our d system is better than the flyers. Bobby Orr would look bad on that team. Just saying...

Wait, we might get a better pick and/or more picks? Homer did well here.

That said, I think Mez might work out really well for Boston if put in the right situation.

And for those reasons (even though Mason is good), I'm sure that Mez will work out fine for Boston. Plus he'll probably improve as he gets more games under his belt, I'm sure of it. The Flyers fans negativity with him is a bit exaggerated.

I'm just glad that the return doesn't necessarily stop at a late 3rd pick that would have ~5 % chance of panning out. Really.

The Flyers have gotten decent goaltending and their team D is drastically better under Berube than it was under Lavy. Mez has something to bring to the table, to be sure, but he will also just inexplicably stand around in his own end like he's having an absence seizure while the opposition pounces on the puck and scores. Poor Luke Schenn has tried and failed to cover up for that this season more times than I can count.

I'll give you the first part, but the Flyers actually play a more defensive system now that Berube is the coach.

The Orr part is just hyperbole.

You are correct , that's pushing it

But he will be a better player for the Bruins I think. Great pick up for a third rounder

You're in for a surprise. Not a good one.

Unless the rest of your team is going to be watching to constantly pick off his passes to the opposing team, there will be difficulty.

Seems like you have semi- high / decent expectactions for Meszaros.

Enjoy

Meszaros was traded to Boston Wednesday for a conditional 20014 third round pick. The third round pick becomes a second rounder if Boston reaches the Conference Finals and Meszaros plays in at least 2/3 of all of the Bruins 2014 Playoff games or if Boston re-signs Meszaros to a contract before the start of the 2014 NHL Entry Draft.

If neither condition is met, it remains a third rounder but if Boston signs Meszaros after the start of the 2014 NHL entry draft for the 2014-15 season, the Flyers pick up an additional fourth round pick from Boston in 2015.

According to Chiarelli on his press conference right now, the 3rd pick becomes a 2nd if the bruins make the conference finals or if he re-signs with the Bruins before the draft.

There is an additional 4th round pick thrown in if he signs with the bruins after the draft.

I think i got that right but don't take my word for it. It's a confusing set of circumstances

Edit: what the poster above me said lol
