So Murray get's not a lot for Moulson = the market sucks
But when Darcy said there's no market for this and this guy, the pitchforks were out in full force.
Murray was hellbend on getting Toffoli from the Kings and now just scrambled to get a deal done.
Rookie GM mistake
Unless you're talking about situations where Darcy dealt/didn't deal pending UFAs, nothing else is relevant. And if people criticized Darcy for not taking whatever poor return was offered, that's also different. Don't really see an effective call out here.
I never said that I know what they were offering but it's been reported basically everywhere that Murray want Toffoli, he set his sights on him and it probably came back to bite him in the ass.
You miss my point. You can't say it was a rookie mistake if the deal he ended up accepting was the best available. And you don't know if it was the best available if you don't know what other teams were offering.
What Vanek was traded for is irrelevant. Moulson said he wanted to stay and re-sign. If he says that then you attempt to re-sign him. Murray was not forced to trade Moulson. So when we trade 2 2nds it doesn't matter because the 2nds aren't worth much but now a 2nd and 3rd is a good return.
I just read a few posts where people where like Torrey Mitchell, awesome pickup....am I not think of the right player? Mitchell, 29 year old, 4th line center/winger. Solid worker, character guy, a grinder type but limited offensive abilities. Do I have the right guy?
Doesn't seem like there was much of a winger market today.
