Had to take Klesla for salary cap. And really? People are crying over a third round pick? Embarrassing. Murray wanted Neuvirth most likely and that's what it took to get him

Why would you look at it like that? Who case if it negated part of the Moulson trade? Are you going to use this logic every time a draft pick is given up? The trade is either good or bad on its own merits. I say it's bad, but the Moulson trade has nothing to do with it.

Washington didn't have the cap room to do that. We had to take on salary.

Haha... Really?

Murray should have said "take what I'll give you!"

Some of you are a little silly about these picks.

I doubt it. Neuvy is younger and has term.

And Neuvirth is a UFA after next year so this was such a dumb ****ing trade.
We obviously didn't give up a 3rd for Klesla, it was for Neuvirth.

When did 3rd round picks become so unbelievably valuable to justify the rustled jimmies in this thread?

"has term" is the key part here. I'm surprised some of you still don't understand the value in that.

The thing is getting to the cap floor with just $3.75 Million tied up in your goaltenders is going to be tough. I would have preferred to throw 3-4 Million at a goaltender to split duties with Enroth next year.

It's a third round pick. I'm not the biggest fan of it, but really? Easy on the pitchforks. This was all for getting Neuvirth. Nothing more, nothing less. Hell, consider him an underdog. The Sabres can give him a real shot at being the starter, given the politics and favoritism for Holtby.

It's really Halak and 3rd for Neuvirth. Klesla for free in cap space. Yet the pitchforks are out. So dumb.

I would have been OK just keeping Halak and losing him at the end of the year.

Seems to me we could have signed a Neuvirth type, for no compensation, this off season.

I think people think that because 2015 is loaded up front it has 2013 depth. That isn't the case.

This is how I feel. No sense in losing a 3rd rounder for nothing. Regardless of how little people around here value it. Asset management.

When was the last time GMGM bent a counterpart in a trade?

I find it hilarious that WGR has Halak going to Washington on their Facebook and 10 minutes later a post has him going to Ottawa.

Someone will have to explain to me the obsession with parsing multi-asset deals.

Cupcake = 18 wheat thins and fudge round
Slice of pizza = chicken salad sandwich and bag of potato chips

Who ****ing cares? The deal is the deal.

We're last, there ain't nobody coming here unless we overpay. Then how happy is the fanbase going to be when we've got multiple guys on Leino type contracts.

People are seriously getting this annoyed over losing a 3rd round pick?

Not really because goaltending jobs are a very limited commodity. Goalies will take money + a chance to play.

Again, I don't like the deal but I'm certainly not upset about it.

Agree. I don't think anyone is upset by it. I think most agree that it could have been managed better, thats all.
