If MacDonald can be taught to throw his weight around some more, he is a major improvement over Mez.

I am actually excited for him. I think I saw reports out there that teams would have given a first for him at the deadline as well, but Snow pulled the trigger to fast.

Nonis was on saying the Leafs made no trades because most players available were rentals...a lot of truth there.
Amazing what some teams give up for a rental...potentially big draft picks...

Wasn't the only first rounders in the St Louis trade? He wasn't even a UFA. I think most GM's did a very good job staying disciplined and not over paying for rentals.

Can Vancouver go a year without being gongshowy?

Nashville got some calls from teams inquiring about Shea Weber. Holmgren says he wasn't one of them. (For now.) Weber is pd $13M bonus 6/30
Muahahahahahhahaahhahahahahaha Homer would never admit that to him.

I would give up a lot, including my girlfriend to get Weber.

Someone tell Paul that I'll waive her NMC

I hope Vanek and Raffl talk this offseason. Instead of going to Minny he comes here to play in a better org. and with a national team buddy.

That would be AWESOME.

How does a 3rd round pick sound for her? Can she cook/clean/look pretty? I can always throw in a bad/decent prospect to sweeten the deal.

Moulson also went to the Wild, who actually could sign him as well. He might not test free agency. If he signs there, one would think there really isn't a place for Vanek there.

Vanek would be the priority I would imagine and Moulson plan B.

So Holmgren is conservative and patient yet again. I wonder when his reputation will begin to change? The guy makes two big trades three years ago and he will forever be "the guy who is constantly turning his roster upside down".

Great cook, decent cleaner and all my friends think she's beautiful.

If this was NHL 2015, I'd rate her an 84. Make it a conditional second round pick and you got yourself a deal

Reckon we go after Vanek in the summer? He'll cost a fortune but man, imagine him with G.

Luckily the real world doesn't define Holmgren by the comments on HFB. The guy makes a good move 80% of the time, but those moves are all ignored because they don't fit the narrative HFB.

This is the time of year where crow is served here as an all you can eat dish; so many arm chair GMs burnt up after players bring back a quarter of what they predicted.

My favorite time of the HFB year!

I'm just baffled no team topped that MTL deal for Vanek. Poor Islander fans.

Well, it's Spring 2014. This time three years ago, only 6 (7 including Pronger) people currently on the roster were with the Flyers, so he has that reputation for a reason.

I personally am happy with his restraint. Anyway, it's just setting us all up for a very interesting draft in a few months.

Right. Three years ago. Care to tell me how much turnover there has been in the last two years?

That's exactly my point. Holmgren has hit the "nuke button" a grand total of once. But he will forever have the reputation of a guy who can't help himself to blow up his team year after year despite the fact that he's only done it the one time and actually made his team better.

The problem is that HFB and many Flyers fans here take rumors as gospel. People judge him based on what he's rumored to be doing rather than what he has actually done. Yesterday was a good example. So many people were saying, "Oh, ****, he's shopping B. Schenn? That's the final straw!" Yes, those people are obviously tempered today, but the fact that they bought into the rumors in the first place has a quite lasting effect on their perception of Holmgren even if the rumors were never true in the first place.

So basically, I don't think his reputation is deserved. Yes, he's more active than most GMs, but he is fairly restrained when it comes to actually changing his long-term plans for the team.

If you look at the Blackhawks lineup during their Cup runs in 2010 and 2013, only 8 players were the same ... not too many more than your claim with the Flyers.

You nailed it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Homer is defined mostly by RUMORS started by folks who dare not step into the arena and compete .
