Emelin at 50%, still way better than 100% Murray or Bouillon.

After a week or two (or more?!) of slowly bringing in Emelin...

Markov - PK Subban
Emelin - Gorges
Murray/Bouillon - Diaz

Each line has a body-checker...

This are the ideal pairings IMO, I'd like to keep Markov-Subban together and let Emelin play on the left.

Depending on how Emelin looks there's also

Markov-Subban
Emelin-Diaz
Gorges-Bouillon/Murray

If we want Gorges to also play on the left.

I would split Markov and Subban, that way we would have one them out there for a good 45-50 minutes a game.

Diaz,Murray on the 3rd pair playing 10-15 min.

Team worst -8 Francis Bouillon can join DD in the press box.

I think Therrien himself said he likes to lean heavily on a top pairing, and I'd rather it be Subban and Markov since they can dominate.

I would like to see that also. I think it might generate more offense...and if it doesn't put Subban and Markov back together.
It win win with Emelin coming back

Glad Emelin will be back shortly. Let's hope Bouillon is the man out. I believe Diaz could play better in a limited role.

I would rotate Murray and bouillon based on the opposition. Murray for the big body teams that rely heavily on wearing teams out down low. Bouillon for the more skating style games.

And for gods sake, will mt please use emelin on the 2nd pp unit? He's really a better option than bouillon or gorges. I never understood why he wasn't used on the pp unit more often, even when he looked good on it in the brief time he did have.

If Emelin, Subban and Markov can stay healthy, it will make a big difference on D. Gorges or Diaz can be the 4th D depending on the situation, the other being on the third pairing with Bouillon and Murray alternating as a 6th D (while waiting for Tinordi and Beaulieu to be ready).

And hopefully, this is the end of the Cube on the PP. One assist in 27 minutes of PP is not enough.

If Emelin doesn't play the PP that means that Bouillon isn't getting rotated out, that means that Therrien is a god damn lunatic.

I think I want Gorges getting more minutes than Diaz but yeah definitely leave the top pairing as is. Those 2 are brilliant together. I was always dead set against those 2 playing together because i loved the idea of having either one of PK or Markov on the ice for 50 mins a game but they really are amazing together.

Gorges and Murray wouldn't work well together in Therrien's system.

I'd hope that Markov-Subban can continue playing so well that you don't split them up. Emelin plays better on the left side and Gorges is fine on the right, I think that would be a better top 4.

But that's some poor puck movement on the 2nd pairing. Neither can rush up the ice efficiently. Eventually the Russians will be reunited and Gorges-Subban too.

I expect him to be rusty for his first games, hopefully no one will put him on the trading block.

That's Charmin to hear that about Moen. I am sure that he is resting on a White Cloud with Cottonelle sheets. Or maybe its a Quilted Northern blanket. Just hope that Scott doesnt show up.

Cant wait for Moen to flush that flu out of his system.

Agreed. I, along with a lot of people, overreacted to Markov's rust when he first came back. Now he's back to playing like the general of old. Emelin will definitely need a few games back to look practical, but him at 50-60% can't be any worse than our other bottom pair D at 100.

Yup, but...ideally if I were the Habs' coach...I would like to create more balance by separating Markov and Subban, but Markov-Subbie works quite well and are lots of fun to watch (but I still worry about the other TWO pairings not being effective at all....kind of like when DD was getting our TWO best power forwards - at that time - and increasing his salary/contract value while other lines were not as balanced. strong).

I want Emelin and/or Gorges and/or (maybe?!) Diaz to all benefit from playing with Subban and/or Markov (for the benefit of our team). But for now...I'm really enjoying the Subbie-Markov pair! Not hard to enjoy it!

And, there are many options I'd try throughout the season to be more ready for the playoffs (to see who goes well with whom for that magic chemistry,etc)...especially this one below:

Emelin - PK Subban
Markov - Gorges
Murray/Bouillon - Diaz

OR

Markov - PK Subban
Emelin - Gorges
Murray/Bouillon - Diaz
